BACKWASH: For backwash of the PSF close the discharge valve of filter feed tank and open the suction valve of final sump to take the filtered water from the sump. Open the discharge valve of the pump Intermediate Submersible Pumps/ P – 103 B /P 103 C, according to the pump in operation. Open corresponding inlet and outlet valves of PSF - 101 for up flow that is backwash. Backwash for the sand filter should be for 15 minutes once in day or as required depending upon the pressure build up. Valves are provided to take sample of filtered water from sand filter venting air respectively from PSF - 101 A /PSF 101 B. The sand filter has to be back-washed once in 24 hrs or whenever pressure drop across pressure sand filter reaches 0.7 kg/cm2 whichever is earlier. 8.1 Micro Filtration : To filter the micro particles escaping from pressure sand filter. Open the inlet valve to micro filter MF - 101. Cleaning of the wound catridges should be done as and when required. Replacement: Replace the cartridges as soon as the concentration of TSS in the outlet of micro filtration is equal to the outlet of Pressure Sand Filter PSF (101 A / B) or by physical observation.

8.2 UV – 101 and Final sump T – 107: 8.2.1 8.2.2 8.2.3 8.2.4 8.2.5

For disinfection of the filtered effluent coming from micro filter MF - 101. Effluent is taken to UV - 101 by operating corresponding valves. Ensure all screwed joints are leak proof before lighting the lamp. Tighten the coupling and tiled upon jackets only in presence ETP in charge. Check the LED indicator daily, if LED Indicator not burning (ON) then fuses may be not working. Replace the same with a new one. Final sump T – 107: To receive treated and filtered effluent from UV - 101 and supply clean water for Backwash of PSF - 101 A /P 101 B and to discharge the effluent.
