New Hope Children’s Foundation began More Than Conquerors Institute in the little mountain village of El Crucero in 2005. With a “handful of caring people and God’s blessings,” MTC finished the first year with 90 students. Receiving a FREE EDUCATION in Nicaragua was unheard of at that time. Hundreds of thousands of children were

“locked out” of an education and “locked in” by ignorance. (Even the public schools were charging children to go to school.) When a family has no income, or makes less than $80 a month, there is no way they can feed their family even beans and rice and have enough money leftover to pay for an education. As a result, many children in Nicaragua have no opportunity to better themselves, so they can break free from the vicious cycle of poverty they wre trapped in.

When word began to spread that a new school was being started for the children of El Crucero, parents were almost in disbelief. One father came and said he had two sons, and if New Hope could give only one of his boys an education, he would appreciate it so much. Iona responded by saying, “We will take both of your sons.” Tears of happiness filled the father’s eyes as he realized his dream for his sons was finally becoming a reality! Both of his sons would receive an education. Students who enrolled, received not only an education in the basics, but more importantly, they received the first Christcentered, values-based education ever available in their area. If New Hope had not been there for these poverty stricken children in 2005, many of them would have had little or no hope for their future. The theme of New Hope became, BRINGING HOPE... TO THE HOPELESS... THE SAVING OF A GENERATION!!! Since 2005 New Hope has been blessed to graduate three classes. At this time, a number of students are finishing their degrees at a university. Soon they will be able to take their place as Christian leaders in Nicaragua. Yes, New Hope is still offering its students a FREE EDUCATION. Even at times when

The number of our students has grown to over 300 in the past four years. Needless to say, with this great increase of students, New Hope’s other expenses have also greatly increased. It is obvious that if New Hope is going to continue to offer an excellent education in Nicaragua (most importantly a Christian education)... as well as continue to be here for the many students who are now attending New Hope’s school... additional funds are
