ACKNOWLEDGMENT The work of this documentation represents the concerted efforts of our talented, smart, creative, and resourceful group over nearly two months. One of the features of the paper is collaboration and it required many acts of collaboration by quite a few people in order to come to fruition. When we presented our presentable, portable, and hi-tech battery operated project miniature to our beloved instructor, we began by saying how blessed we felt that the project work were still fascinating and enjoyable to us even after so many hours of study, processing, and creating. Moreover, we are grateful that the knowledge gained through this study is so very relevant and useful to our current subject lessons. Therefore, it is that we begin our thanks to those who lent their support and expertise to us in the last three weeks. First, we begin by thanking our talented instructors who enthusiastically permitted us to use them as “lab rats” for this study. We remember them fondly and remain in contact with a few even after leaving the school more than two weeks ago. They were a cohort of generous, kind and caring individuals who possessed keen senses of humor. We would like to express our thanks to our colleagues at AMA Computer Learning Center. From AMACLC-Lipa Administration to Faculty Staff, Dir. Norie Recinto, Mdm. Sheila, Mdm. Eva, Sir Alvin and Sir Randy Rosales were especially supportive in listening to our ideas and helping us work out specific details. To our peers at McDonalds Fast Food, National Bookstore, Netspeed Computer Shop, Logan Cracksoft™ and AMACLC Schoolmates, We thank you for your many hours of support and cheer, usually at Manyaman’s Eatery, through this long process. Cheers! We would also like to acknowledge our thanks to our teaching friends around the school who expressed interest in our presentable, portable, and hi-tech battery operated project miniature study and encouraged us along the way. You have made us realize what a worthy endeavour collaboration is to our rapidly flattening computer world. Of course, we want to thank our parents for patiently putting up with sons who could never get enough of school. Lastly, and most importantly, we want to thank our great and cool family who sacrificed time with their sons so that they could climb their own personal Mount Everest and thus become a better person and a better student. Thanks to our parents! We hope we can always be there for them in the way they supported us! Rock n’Roll!
INTRODUCTION The star topology is the layouts were the connections of the computers are centralized in the core unit. It is essential that local area network or wide area network connections go beyond a superficial skimming of performance factors to a critical appraisal of how each computer can connect and distribute the line equally. An in-depth exploration of each performance factor may reveal several aspects or dimensions that can potentially affect computers differently.
ADVANTAGES OF STAR TOPOLOGY It is easy to install and establish. Easy to configures connection. It has centralized management and supervision system. Easy to operate and troubleshoot if there is an error or problem. Computer network expansion is easy. Centralized connection and equally distributed of connections.
DISADVANTAGES OF STAR TOPOLOGY It requires more cable length than bus topology/lay-out. If the hub breaks down, the entire computer network goes down. More expensive than linear bus.
CONCLUSION We, therefore to conclude that the star topology is the most commonly used topology or set-up of layout in the internet cafés, schools, business establishments, government unit, and non-government unit. We used star topology in our presentable, portable, and hi-tech battery operated project miniature in NET2/ICSN to promote the good benefits of the layout in individual establishments who are thinking of what type of topology or layout they will use to set-up their network. Through this study and building of star topology miniature, we found out that in setting-up of star topology is very easy and hassle free to install.
MATERIALS In building this presentable, portable, and battery operated project miniature of star topology in NET2/ICSN, we used the following materials:
Soldering iron
Soldering lead
Glue gun
Glue stick (silicon stick)
Cable (Shielded Twisted Pair)
Illustration board
Electrical tape
LED light
Switch box
Wire stripper
Pliers
Battery box
Battery (AA size)
Cutter and scissor
STEP-BY-STEP PROCEDURE IN CONFIGURING THE MINIATURE After the successful creation of our presentable, portable, and hi-tech battery operated project miniature of star topology in NET2/ICSN, we observed and jotted all systematic procedures and here are the lists below:
I.
First, we placed the battery into the battery box.
II.
Second, we switched on the power switch to test the presentable, portable, and hi-tech battery operated project miniature project if it is working.
III.
Third, we analyzed the proper distribution of power from battery to the LED lights if it is equally distributed.
IV.
Fourth, we checked each cable wires attached in each LED lights to prevent short circuits or power interruptions.
V.
Last, we fixed the cable wires by pasting the silicon stick and attached permanently the cable wires under the platform (illustration board) of the miniature to prevent unwanted detachments.
MINIATURE LAYOUT
COST In spite of of present global economic crisis that we are now experiencing, our smart and talented group created this presentable, portable, and hi-tech battery operated project miniature of star topology with minimal amount only. Fifty percent of materials used in this project are made of scrap materials. That is the benefit of being resourceful and creative group.
