hang on the side and you have to try and get back on there so every once in a while you get under the elephant and its intense, yeah, what to do? it takes a while to recover. But vaishnavas are very precious, devotees are very precious people, that one should always appreciate because these devotees they carry the blessings of Krishna and therefore Krishna is favouring them and anybody who turns towards a devotee, he will be favoured.

07/10/08 Yeah yeah, so its like you feel it when you start sliding down and
:there is no doubt about it. So if whatever we do we have this good intelligence to never underestimate the importance of a devotee, then always be appreciative, generous, kind and so on with the devotees then somehow or other we will get blessings, tremendous blessings and then Krishna will make some arrangements for us, because ultimately we all need some
openings, we all need some favourable arrangements, it’s not so easy to step in the sankirtana movement and here it is here’s the process now just surrender. I am who I am , it’s not so easy but then Krishna makes an opening, he may send someone, just like when I became involved seriously in the Hare Krishna movement I found it not so easy at first. I was in India and they were really like pushing like anything. It’s like I stood in front of the deities and like they were pushing me saying “dance! dance!” and I was like come on dance when its like happening, you know its got to happen at least can’t just dance dance – “dance you got to dance” its more spaghetti western type of stuff- dance ! dance !
So I couldn’t relate to it, I thought it was too pushy, but the devotees were quite closable in India , they were taking a lot of interest in one’s person, the person they were dealing with. Visa ran out and I came back to Europe and when I came back to Europe the mood in the temple
was quite different, it was like very impersonal and very rigid, it was really like err.. I would not have made it, right, people would talk about the process of Krishna consciousness but there was no human interaction, from …how are you?, that was maya that was not done and I couldn’t handle that and there was one devotee from America, a black devotee, black bodied devotee and everyone thought he was strange and he would ask people how are
you and I liked him immediately, wow, a human being, that makes the whole thing possible for me, you could be human in this movement. So Krishna made an arrangement, he made an opening for me. And I had hepatitis in India and the result was I was on a heavy diet and no ghee, right, and no halva so it was a great disaster, when you join and there’s no halva especially in those days that was really too much, no halva, so my friend he was cooking quite a bit so he cooked some nice raisin bread for me which was full of dried fruit….instead of halva I had that …so by his mercy I survived. So he made an opening for me, he made it something sustainable. So Krishna makes arrangements for us and the more we please Krishna’s devotees then somehow or other Krishna always makes an arrangement for us no matter how strong or weak we are.
He’ll create an opening for us. That is the result of the blessing of a vaishnava if one is not so strong, therefore we must be very careful with the vaishnava, be very careful with the way we deal with the vaishnavas and that’s actually the principle we are discussing here. When a devotee distributes prasadam remnants of food offered to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, in order to maintain our spiritual devotional service we must accept this prasadam as the Lord’s grace received through the pure devotees …sanskrit…one who has no faith in the prasadam of Lord Govinda, such a person can never get the benefits of devotional service.
This prasadam is very important.
The Chaitanya Caritamrita is describing the nature of this prasadam and is saying that actually Krishna has personally taken this prasadam and ….put it back on the plate, it doesn’t say that in caitanya caritamrita but elsewhere it is described.
Krishna has personally tasted it and touched it with his lips and therefore this prasadam is now different, it is what was ordinary foodstuff that has become transformed, it is now really spiritually potent and because whatever is spiritual is fully surcharged with the potency of Krishna and automatically makes one attached to Krishna, the
prasadam makes us attached to Krishna. So it is very wonderful, so it is a very important thing, of course we must share prasadam with the vaishnavas, again, maybe not just keep it for ourselves but give, give, giving is a big thing. Some people give away prasadam, very nice, I got some today, it was nice. Srila Prabhupada writes even in normal social activities these six types of dealings between two loving friends are absolutely necessary for instance this man wishes to contact another business man he arranges a feast in a hotel and over the feast openly expresses what he wishes to do.
He then enquires through his business friend how he should act, sometimes presents are exchanged. Thus whenever there is a dealing of priti or love these six activities are executed, yes, so that is also important how Srila Prabhupada explaining that these activities are characteristics of love and how we have to learn… we just don’t know, we just come from these material relationships where we are like dogs right ‘RAAAH! We just bark at each other’RAAAH RAAAH’
not interested leave me alone and so on and different barks and very envious not at all appreciative of each other. The what are so called normal relationships are envious relationships and everyone is thinking about everyone, ‘oh who’s that guy oh who’s that’ and the whole world is just thinking ‘huh this one’s that’ and so on ‘that one’s this’ and people are full of distrust and so on. So amongst vaishnavas that gradually has to disappear, in the previous verse Srila Rupa Goswami has advised that one should renonunce, worldly association and keep company with the devotees….sanskirt…
The International Society of Krishna Consciousness has been established to facilitate six kinds of loving exchanges between the devotees and so that’s very important that we just try to really change our mood in this movement. So it’s a big challenge to live together and be together. Somehow or other Hare Krishna temples are, what shall I say, they are extraordinary, that’s one word, for it, in all respects they are non different to the spiritual world, they are always, they are bit chaotic, they are full, there are people, many times lots of people doing all types of things in a small space relatively, just squeeze together on a floor, eating, so many things are going on and it’s all happening around the Prasadam just like big time events. So many things are there but the most wonderful thing is when the devotees are actually very kind and gentle, so we have to become kind and gentle, we have to practise and be generous.
When Srila Prabhupada started what he called the Sunday love feast it was a fifteen course feast, fifteen preparations and each preparation was special and even in the late 70s and early 80s it was like that and somewhere on the line it changed and became less and less, but it was fifteen preparations they would cook, start cooking Saturday. Saturday they would start doing the sweets and the whole thing Sunday doing the rest and the big thing, big big feast every Sunday for free, so it represents the mood of the vaishnava who gives causeless mercy, causeless mercy, causeless mercy means you get so much and you wonder I didn’t really deserve all that, and they’re giving all this and they are not even charging, that’s how it should be actually, there should be an exchange with that mood and we see Srila Prabhupada was there, that’s how it was very great generosity and that is how this movement will conquer. We will conquer by extraordinary generosity that is the nature of Lord Chaitanya,
