NAVIGATING YOUR FUTURE The world today is innovative. Human being such as the meteorologist has devised a whole lot of tools capable of forecasting the weather. Some tools have even been invented to predict the direction of the wind, rain among others. Some go to the extent of measuring how long a man would live based on his health issues. But why haven’t they come out with a tool that will help us in navigating our future? As a student, we should be able to navigate our future and have in mind that there will always be different seasons in our lives like weather. (Genesis 8:22). Though Isaiah 55:8-12 and Isaiah 58:11 let us understand the God knows our future but are we aware that to live our future lies in our hand? What is your five year plan for life? Write them down! Tell God what you want about your future, He has made up his mind to answer you even before you finish asking. (Isaiah 65:24). As students, are we thinking for the moment or the future? Life is beyond the now and we should understand that nothing happens by mistake. There are some prophetic words that you might have heard or have been said concerning you in the past that might not have come to reality that could be your future. Below are some keys needed in negotiating your future:
Knowing who you are: The extent of what you know about God is the extent of what you will know about your future. Jesus also knew who he was. (Luke 4:18). A vision: vision helps in three ways: Vision defines you. Vision refines you. Vision confines you. Above all, vision makes you fine. (Proverbs 4:25-27). Try to write out your mission statement, vision statement and plans for your life in five years. Begin to visualize your future. Grow to maturity: As you begin to visualize your future, also begin to grow to maturity. Thought: (1 Corinthians 2: 10-15). As a man thinks in his heart so shall his future be. Learn to guide your heart with all diligent for out of it comes all issues of life. Great works are products of deep thought. Bill Gates is successful today because of his thought. Relationship: Relationship is better than achievement. When you disregard people, you disregard your destiny. Prayer: Pray without season (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Grace and Maturity: God has the right to make some people for noble purpose and some for common use. But his grace endures forever to those He called his sons. (Romans 9:19-26).
As we begin to work steadfast on the word of God, we will never get lost in our future. It is the key tool you need to navigate your way through to your destiny. REFERENCE: Tuesday 12th May 2009, Toye Sobande’s message at Kings Court Chapel, Student Fellowship, Buckingham.
