My dear compatriots, I write this letter a day before I am due back in Cear. I will begin from the beginning. Maeve Eamnon and I made great progress to Morell, whereupon we began our search for our unfortunate and embattled colleague. We found nothing within the locality of the Vokk, nor within the Dasar River Valley—two locations that were mentioned within the rumours and whispers that occupied the interests of local tavern-keeps and bar-wenches. We eventually rode to the eaves of the Ravenwood, and having encountered Knight-Companion Oronar on the road, we entered. The three of us made our way to a cave-mouth huddled within the canopy of the Ravenwood, and therein we discovered our embattled colleague, of which I shall not mention in name. It was at this juncture that I made use of the device you so prodigiously provided, Sir Almaran. We spoke at length, and I must confirm the record of the events that I had been dispatched to investigate. The principle charges that have been levied against our compatriot are true by admission, though the act that precipitated these charges was of an honourable nature. Our colleague was true to their oath, not only as a Knight of the Argentum Vigilo, but as a member of our Daybreak collective, and as an individual of good faith, loyalty, and decency. Though he stands a criminal in the eyes of the Empire of Varana for these actions. Deduct what logic you may from that statement. Our colleague now searches for friends of a mutual nature; friends who agree with what our motley assemblage was designed to honour: to safeguard and protect the interests of our fellow Dasarians. To engender within our people the pride and honour and stake within this land that has inspired poets and songsters from the dawn of time, when first Siril Firstking battled the ancestor of the Varanite throne on the marbled dais of the Temple of Ki. What happens now, compatriots, is of supreme significance. You will see enclosed not only my own letter of resignation, but the letters of resignation for Knight-Companion Maeve Eamnon, and Knight-Companion Oronar. It is with remarks such as the learned and honourable Hyel Loremaster (of whom I have the greatest respect for—my friend, you are scholar of unfathomable regard, and I do not speak against you from a personal vantage), whereupon he suggest that we "may need to cut him loose as to cut our losses" that I reconcile my resignation. Such behaviour does not embody the true characteristics of a knight; I will not align myself with

an organisation that so easily casts aside its members; indeed, its brothers and sisters, for that is what we are. I serve first "that which was the Kingdom of Dasaria"; I serve second the Noble and Honourable House of Siril, those brave individuals, Baraan-men, who served the interests of the people of Dasaria; I serve third the men and women I call compatriots. I act in the interest of all of these precepts by tendering my resignation as a Knight-Patent of the Silver Watch, the Argentum Vigilo. My kindest regards to you all,

Raeflyn E'doras, Templar Her Majesty's Queen's Guard
