Dr. McKenzie Murray ITGS Internal Assessment
Client: Ave Miller Company: My Best Friend’s Closet Consignment
Criterion A: Initial Consultation 1. What is your company’s goal? What do you offer? My Best Friend’s Closet is a consignment shop. Customers can find name-brand and designer clothing for a lower cost. In addition, clients can sell their clothes through the store, or consign them. Shirts, dresses, and shoes sell the best/most. 2. What is your target demographic (age, gender, culture, taste, etc.)? The store offers only women’s clothing. Customers’ age ranges from teenagers to adults (16-60). Women who enjoy designer clothes, but don’t want to spend the high cost. Most of the clothes are boldly colored/designed, sparkly, and have prints. “Stylish”, “chic”, and “classy” would best describe the clothing sold. 3. Does your company operate in-store only or online as well? The store mainly operates in-store, but the ResaleWorld software is used for online purchase transactions and tracking. 4. How can customers reach out or find out about your company? How do you reach new customers or stay in touch with former ones? Former customers are given incentive to come back with reward systems, they receive points for every purchase and once they’ve reached a certain amount, they receive a store certificate for certain amounts off future purchases. In addition, push notification coupons are sent to customers’ phones for them to use in-store. The company uses social media to reach out to and keep up with customers. 5. What are the social media platforms your company currently uses? Are you satisfied with your social media? My BFC currently uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and their website. It’s “good” but not great, according to the owner. 6. What is something you are having trouble with your business? My client explained to me that promoting the business and getting “word out” about it is hard. If the business can reach more people, then there will be more customers.
7. Do you have any problems with your current IT systems (databases for inventory, payment systems, social media)? No, the ResaleWorld keeps up with the company’s information and is easy to use, but the website and Instagram could use work. 8. What forms of payment do you currently accept (Apple Pay, mobile wallets, cash, card, etc.)? All forms of payment are accepted.
