Subject : Proposal for workshop on the Integrated and Internationalised Territorial development We are glad to send to you the proposal for the workshop “Integrated and Internationalised territorial development”. With the participation of international experts in the local and national strategic planning from different European countries, this workshop is designed in order to help and introduce the Libyan local stakeholders in planning and designing the ways to reach the MDGs in the framework of the needs and priorities of the Libyan institutions and in coherence with the ART Gold Maghreb methodology. The workshop is articulated in 6 days, of which the first four ones are dedicated to discuss the main topics concerning the best European experiences. On the forth day it is foreseen the active participation of a member of the Government in order to discuss on the lesson learned by the

‫هذه الدورة ستعقد على مدى ستة أيام ؛ الربع الولى‬ ‫خصصت للنقاش حول المواضيع الرئيسية على أن يتم‬ ‫في اليوم الرابع مشاركة فعلية من أحد أعضاء أمانة‬ ‫اللجنة الشعبية العامة لمناقشة معطيات وفوائد الدورة‬ ‫و اليومين التاليين خصصت لتقديم النتائج و‬ .‫المقترحات لجهات الختصاص المحلية‬

participants. The last day is organized through working groups for formulating the draft proposal for the Libyan Regional Planning tools. The workshop is finalized to train around 40 persons involved in the regional planning. We propose the participation of six persons for each Sha’abiya involved in Art Gold Programme, six employees from the General People’s Committee for Planning and some other persons from any national institutes that you can identify and recommend. The course was devised and set up by the International Secretariat of ART Initiative (UNDP, UNESCO, UNOPS, WHO, UNIFEM) and coordinated by CIRCLE (Centre for International Local Economic Development Cooperation). The costs of the project cover all the expenses. UNDP with the Programme ART GOLD Libya will provide the necessary assistance for the organization and implementation of the workshop. The workshop can be organized it in twothree weeks from your approval.
