Brief Description of the event (For F.Sc / H.Sc / A-Level / O-Level students)
Interactive session of Materials Sciences Material Sciences and Engineering is a relatively novel engineering which is emerging and is the future and merger of all engineering. ASM – GIKI chapter decides to aware the students of Pakistan about the new emerging field, where they can come and make their own future as well as Pakistan. This session will be totally interactive with the activities related to the engineering sciences and to distinguish between different engineering. Speaker for this session is the Ph.D and is well aware with the situation of the students that they will be going to decide their career path in a year or two. This will give the taste of materials engineering and the lab and industrial work of the engineers.
Visit to the labs Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute has the pride of having most modern labs with the latest machines and equipments. Students will get the chance to visit the labs and they will perform some of the experiments which engineers do in their daily life. Passion for engineering of the students will rush through their brains to the experiments.
Mastermind Sharp mind and active brain is the first requirements for the engineers. Mastermind module will be a kind of general quiz competition where the jury will be highly qualified foreign professors. They will also guide students about the entry test of GIKI and how these are made to find the mental level of the applicant.
Seminar “How the world has changed and will change due to Materials Engineers”
Have you ever wondered that why steel made cars are no longer in use or why petrol is now expensive and CNG is working for your Car. These and many more changes starting from agriculture to bio technology, from a smallest car to a big space rocket are due to the Materials Engineers. Everything covers the Materials Sciences and Engineering. This seminar will give you a glimpse to understand the need of changing materials and the present conditions of Pakistan regarding materials engineering and its future.
Case Studies Case studies for the students will be prepared by the Prof. Dr. Peter Draper (Imperial College of London), which will help students to understand more deeply the concept of Materials Sciences and Engineering. Case studies will be assigned in groups so that it will be easy for the students to solve the case study
Presentation Group of students have to give the presentation on the assigned case study. This presentation will enhance and polish the presentation skills of the students, which will help them in their daily life and ofcourse in their future presentations. This presentation will be formal and will be evaluated by the Ph.D doctors and Research Associates.
