Intro :: Acoustics :: Vibration :: Waves :: Resonance

Waves The world is full of waves: sound waves, light waves, water waves, radio waves, Xrays, and others. The room in which you are sitting is being crisscrossed by light waves, radio waves, and sound waves of many different frequencies; vibrational waves of low frequency are propagating through the walls and ceiling. Practically all communication depends on waves of some type. Although sound waves are vastly different from radio waves or ocean waves, all waves possess certain common properties. In this chapter, some of these common properties will be discussed, along with some particular properties of sound waves. To successfully complete this chapter you should... Read chapter 3 in your text book (pages 33 - 51). Carefully study the important concepts about waves. Be able to discuss the properties of waves.
