Assistive Technology of Alaska (ATLA) in collaboration with various statewide partners in government, education, independent living, and vocational rehabilitation is proud to host the Midnight Sun Assistive Technology Conference to be held in Anchorage from August 5 - 7, 2009. The Midnight Sun Assistive Technology Conference will provide an opportunity to see first hand the latest in assistive technologies (AT), practices, and services for people with disabilities. The conference will serve as a unique opportunity for vendors, professionals, private individuals, parents, and service providers to exchange and gather information on the world of AT. Whether you are an AT supplier, service provider, or are just interested in seeing the latest in AT, you’ll want to join us in the land of the Midnight Sun for this one of a kind opportunity, all while visiting the beauty of Alaska.

Submitting presentations We are moving toward a “paper-less” conference this year. Because of the environmental impacts of hundreds, if not thousands, of pages of paper being used for handouts, we are requiring all presenters to submit their presentations by June 30, 2009. Attendees will be provided the presentations in an electronic format. Details about submitting your presentation will be included on the “Confirmation of Presentation” letter sent to you if your presentation is accepted.

General Instructions Submission Guidelines 1. Papers may be scheduled at any time during the conference at the conference committee’s discretion. 2. Speakers agree that their submission will be published in the Conference Program and may be available on the Midnight Sun Assistive Technology Conference website or websites of collaborating agencies. Authors retain copyright of their work. 3. Submission of a proposal serves as your agreement to have all information and handouts included in the conference program, which will be given to all conference participants. 4. All accepted presenter’s will have one (1) day conference fee waived on the same day as they are presenting. Other expenses will be the responsibility of the presenter. 5. The primary presenter will receive written notification by March 2009. The primary presenter will be responsible for notifying the co-presenters regarding acceptance of the proposal and other correspondence. 6. It is understood that permission has been given by program presenters for audio and/or videotaping and photographs. 7. Presenters are responsible for obtaining written permission from copyright holders for duplication of previously published materials distributed as handouts at any session. 8. All presentation materials to be distributed at the conference, in regular or an alternative format if requested by a participant, are the responsibility of the presenter.
