Current Event: –

My research was based on the current news update from the University of Houston Clear Lake, which discusses the rise in Measles cases reported around the United States. As of February 7th, there has been over one-hundred measles cases registered in the country, and five of them originated from Houston. In Europe, the measles epidemic has reached its peak in 2019, after a decade of low rates. In the Philippines, 136 children were reported dead and another 8,400 are still battling the disease.

This article highlights the importance of vaccinating children in order to prevent deaths that could have been easily prevented. This connects to my project topic because it writes about the prevalence of a disease that has resurfaced across the globe despite its eradication in the early 21st century mainly because of the antivaccination movement lead by parents who believe that vaccination does more harm than good. My project will mainly be focused on the disease itself and why many organizations like schools and departments of work require them, and in what cases they can make exceptions.

Product Slide: ❑ For my product I am going to create a Tri-Fold poster that discusses the importance of getting the MMR vaccine and include different stories of what happened to children who did not receive their vaccinations, as suggested. What are some reasons an individual may be against vaccines? Complete by 3/5/2019 Effects of not getting vaccinated- effects of measles and the outbreak in children 3/13/19 Collect all my materials and finish research on the impact of vaccines by 4/14/2019

Watch videos and brainstorm creative ideas by 4/27/2019

Conclusion: This project has allowed me to learn more about Measles and the importance of being updated with your vaccines. I also hope to learn more leadership and communication skills over the course of this semester.

Thankyou!!! – I would like to thank my mentor for providing me with all the information I needed to complete this assignment and for letting me observe her, as well as my teacher, Mrs. Click, for providing me with the assistance that I needed!
