Geothermal energy is a source of energy generated by using hot rocks and cold water. The cold water is heated up by sending it down under the ground.
How it works: 1. The cold water is sent down to the hot region. 2. The steam goes up, spinning the turbines and driving the generators. 3. Power is sent to homes
Advantages: 1. Geothermal energy does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. 2. It is renewable. 3. No fuel is needed. 4. Power stations don’t take up much space.
Disadvantages 1. There are not many places to build power plants 2. Hot rocks of the correct type are needed.
