SRI SAI BABA OF SHIRDI
(From Sai Sat Charitra by Anna Saheb Dabolker) •
To him, who, devoid of ‘ahamkar’, submits himself at My feet, I help him enormously.
•
If one sings My life story and actions with gusto, I will surround him from front, back and on all sides.
•
I will extricate my devotee from the jaws of death.
•
If My story is heard, all diseases will vanish.
•
Just ruminating “Sai”, “Sai” alone will wipe out the sins that accrue in speech and hearing.
•
By God’s grace, dumb will speak, lame will cross the mountain.
•
Be wherever you want and do whatever you like – I will know all that you do.
•
Sai’s darshan alone is our Yoga sadhana; His commands our Vedas; His ‘udhi’ will purify everything of ours.
•
In My devotees house there shall never be scarcity for food and clothes. Whatever you want you ask Me.
•
Firmly establish your mind in constantly remembering Me.
•
Know that my devotees’ sufferings are all Mine.
•
The supreme act of all things is your opportunity to place your head at the feet of Sai Baba and do surrender.
•
Shed all intelligence and constantly repeat ‘Sai’ ‘Sai’.
•
If you always utter ‘Sai’ ‘Sai’, I will take you beyond the seven seas. Believe My words. You will sure benefit.
•
Be patient. Throw far away your anxieties. Your troubles have come to an end. However much a person is trampled and agonized in life, once he puts his foot in this masjid (Dwarakamayi), he enters the path of happiness. The fakir (Sai Baba) here is of all Love. He will cure your disease. He protects everyone with love and care.
•
Baba’s words and grace alone are permanent medicines which cure many diseases and not the tablets or medicines.
•
If you stretch you hands before Me with Bakthi, I will at once be with you day and night. Your heart is My residence. Worship Me, who is in your heart and similarly in the hearts of all creatures. You will certainly be the lucky person to be blessed.
•
I need only two paisas: ‘Nishta’ (firm belief) and ‘Saboori’ (Patience).
•
Do not try to learn any mantra or upadesa from any one. Take me as the sole refuge of your thoughts and actions. Without doubt you will achieve realization. Look at Me with your whole heart. In response I will do the same towards you.
•
I speak only satyam (Truth) from this Masjid. You do not need sadhans or learning of six sastras. Have faith and attachment in Me. Meditate on this figure sitting here. Your state will be as sweet as sugar candy and you will be blissful.
•
God is our only Master. He alone is our Protector. No one else.
•
No one should avail the work of others without compensating it.
•
One should believe that whatever God gives, surely it is for his good only and enjoy it.
•
Whatever happens, it happens because of His command. In the end it will result only in good for us.
•
The place you are sitting is Dwarakamayi. She wards off all dangers and anxieties of children (devotees) who sit on her lap. This masjid mother (Sai Baba) is extremely kind. She is the mother of the humble devotees. She saves them from great dangers. If one sits on her lap once, all his troubles will come to an end. Those who rest under her grace will attain bliss.
•
What can snake do when there is Dwarakamayi (Sai Baba) to protect? You do not have to be afraid.
•
I do not need any doors to enter. I have no body with length and breadth. I live always in all places. I conduct the activities of a person who has faith in me and has immersed in Me as a puppeteer would conduct a puppet show.
•
Allah (God) will give you enormously. He will give you all the good things.
•
Throw away the sooth sayings of the astrologers and palmists and believe in Me only. Do not be disappointed.
•
When everyone forsakes us, Sai Baba will never let us down. What is needed is unlimited love and bhakthi and not discussions.
•
My treasury is overflowing. Take this wealth in cart-loads. You are My son blessed by the true mother (Sai) and you should enrich yourself with this wealth.
•
Do not worry. From tomorrow you will start improving and in a week’s time you will start walking very well.
•
Those who take refuge in this masjid will not suffer on any account either in this life or the life-after. Be carefree now. Apply the udhi on the affected part. Within a week he will be cured. Believe God. This is not masjid. This is Dwarakamayi. He who places his legs in this place will get health and happiness quickly. All his troubles will come to an end.
•
At the appropriate time all your good and bad karmas will be burnt to ashes.
•
He who finds fault with others and talks cynically of others, he wounds My heart painfully. But he, who bears all troubles patiently he makes Me extremely happy.
•
Once you surrender to Sai, you get the benefit. There is no reason for fear or anxiety.
•
Forget hatred now and hereafter and be calm.
•
God rushes to help devotees when they are in danger.
•
My dear! Why you are tired for nothing. I will fill your pot (i.e. Sai will look after our needs).
•
Why this man comes to this masjid and weeps? These feet of mine are ancient and sacred. Now there is no worry for you. Keep full faith on me. (Once Sri Satya Sai Baba exposed his feet and said: “Look. This is the feet held dear by Anjaneya.)
•
One prostration (namaskar) done with obedience and love is enough.
•
You do not have to worry. Why are you considering yourself as the doer of you actions? While doing either good or bad deeds, never allow the thought that you are the doer.
Jai Ho to our beloved Sai Surrender to Sai Let there be Shanthi for all Jai Sai Ram *********************************************************************
SRI SATHYA SAI BABA
(From My Baba and I by J. Hislop) John Hislop says in this book that A highly valued facet of Sri Sathya Sai Baba is that One can Love Him with one’s heart Without fear and restraint, Being sure that He will NEVER betray. -0•
However you are, you are Mine. I will not give you up. You cannot go beyond My reach.
•
As soon as a desire arises turn it to God and be carefree and happy. Feel happy and continue to feel happy regardless of the conditions and events.
•
Your own will, strengthened by the thought of God, becomes God’s Will. Victory will be ever yours.
•
Do not find fault with others. Do not scandalize anyone. Do not feel envious or be malicious. Be always sweet in temperament and in your talk. Fill your conversation with devotion and humility.
•
I will not forsake you. I have come to help, accompany and carry you.
•
Selfishness is the greatest negative tendency in human beings. Its consequences are the six weaknesses: Lust, avarice, anger, attachment, pride and jealousy.
•
Just think – “Are you serving God or is God serving you”. GOD SERVERS. He allows you to claim that you serve. Without His will no single blade of grass can quiver in the breeze. Fill every moment with gratitude to God.
•
Keep in memory: (i) I am God. I am no different from God. (ii) I am the indivisible supreme absolute. (iii) I am sath, chith, anand. (iv) grief and anxiety can never affect me, and (v) I am ever content. Fear can never enter me. These five prayers will endow you with ‘awareness of Brahman’.
•
The repetition of God’s name should lead to dedication of all action to God.
•
Meditate upon the Truth that all your physical and mental processes have their source and inspiration from the divine cosmic energy.
•
The principal thing is that the life and the work should be dedicated to God.
•
After awaking from bed, be quiet for a few minutes. Pray to Sai to give strength to live the day in dedication to Him and for strength to help others. At night, recollect the day (not in detail) and offer it to Sai.
•
With a move of His (‘My’) hand Swami (‘I’) could have entire world acknowledge me. But what use? It would be only spectacular and would achieve nothing of value. (Sai Baba generally mentions about him as ‘Swami’)
•
Sai knows everything.
•
Unless Sai devotees are at the very least human persons free from animal qualities/characteristics, how can they suggest spiritual life to others?
•
Discipline is important.
•
Faith is of great importance. Sai gives total and final liberation.
•
Hell is a place in mind – a mental state where there is much worry and suffering. – it is an after-death state. Sai is here to guide His devotees so that they do not fall in that state.
•
There is much non-sense about Swami being omnipresent and omnipotent. In spiritual life, the relationship between you and Swami is heart to heart. But in worldly life Swami has given you work to do. You are required to do you duty. The writing of letter to Swami is for your satisfaction. Once you confess to Swami there is no guilty feeling. Do your duty fully and completely in the work given to you by Swami.
•
Live fully now without worry about the future. Act according to your best feelings and thought and do not worry. Consider yourself as instrument in Sai’s hands and Sai acts using you as His instrument for action.
•
Do not worry about health. Your lovely God (Sai) is always with you and around you.
•
In the lowest worm as well as in the highest human being the same divine nature is present.
•
The secret of perfect health lies in keeping the mind always cheerfulnever worried never hurried, never borne down by any fear, thought or anxiety.
•
Every positive effort you make is not in vain. Swamy Sings Love is My form, Truth is My breath, Bliss is My food My life is My message, Expansion is My life No reason for Love, No season for Love No birth, No death Prema, Satya, Ananda Shanthi, Dharma,Ananda, Shirdi Sai, Satya Sai, Prema Sai Jai Jai Shirdi Baba, Parthi Baba, Prema Baba Jai Jai (Love is my form…) -0-
SWAMI YUKTESWAR MAHARAJ (Guru of Paramahams Yogananda) (From ‘Autobiography of a Yogi byYoganandaji) -0-
I give you
•
unconditional love. •
Why
exclude you relatives from your love of humanity? •
Look
fear in the face and it will cease to trouble you. •
Attachment is binding. It lends an imaginary halo of attractiveness to the object of desire.
•
Good and positive suggestions should be instructed into sensitive ears of children.
•
Is the whole world is going to change for you. Change yourself. Be rid of mosquito consciousness. (When Yoganandaji got irritated by mosquitoes bite, swamiji said this. This applies to all irritating things in the world.)
•
This world is inconveniently arranged for a liberal practice of ahimsa. Man may be compelled to exterminate harmful creatures. He is NOT under a similar compulsion to feel anger or animosity (towards them). All forms of life have an equal right to the air of Maya. (When a lady asked Sri. Satya Sai Baba, about the need to kill cockroaches, Baba said the she has to kill them to keep the house hygienic. But, He added that she should not kill it with a vengeance. Kill the creatures where needed with ‘Sai ram” in the lips, feeling sad for the compulsion to kill them.- ‘Conversation with Baba”by John Hislop).
•
Wanton loss of human body is a serious transgression against the law of karma. (Thus, suicide is sin).
•
Medicines have limitations. The divine creative life force has none. Believe that; you shall be well and strong.
•
Forget the past. Everything in future will improve if you are making a spiritual effort now.
•
Imagination is the door through which disease as well as healing enters. Disbelieve in the reality of sickness even when you are ill; the unrecognized visitor will flee.

Jai Guru Maharaj
BAGHAVAN SHRI RAMANA MAHARISHI
(Mainly from ‘Day by Day with Baghavan’ by A.D. Mudaliar) -0-
•
For geeing Brahma Jnana all that is necessary is to surrender your self completely to the Guru, to surrender the notion of “I” and “Mine”. Then, it would be impossible to state what further time it would take to attain Brahma Jnana.
•
We have to content against age-long samskaras (past karmas). They will all go. Only they go comparatively soon in the case of those who have already made sadhana in the past and late in the case of others. (Reader please recollect Shridi Sai said ‘at the appropriate time your good and bad karmas will be burnt to ashes’.)
•
For a question ‘do these samskaras go gradually or suddenly?’ Maharishi replied “when sun rises whether the darkness go gradually or all at once?”
•
All passions come from within us. If, by looking into the source whence they issue, we see that they do not come out of us, we shall conquer them.
•
These world and objects were created by our mind. They do not exist in our sleep.
•
The concept that there is a goal and a path to it is wrong. We are the goal and peace always. To get rid of the notion that ‘we are not at peace’ is all that is required. It is impossible for anyone to get what he has not already got. Even if he gets something it will go away. What always ‘is’ will alone will remain.
•
By giving up activities mean giving up one’s attachment to the fruits thereof, giving up the notion ‘I am the doer’.
•
The activities for going through which this body has come will have to be gone through. There is no question of giving up such activities whatever, whether one likes it or not.
•
That force, by any name you call it, which brought the body into existence will see to it that the activities which this body meant to go through are brought about.
•
God is in you, and in all your circumstances now, and you and your own individual little world are in God now. Realisation of this means that the Law of God rules your whole life and circumstances.
•
When a person asked what to do if prayer for spiritual realization was not answered, Maharishi replied: ‘It may be it is for his good that the prayer is not granted.’
•
I never said Guru is not necessary. But a Guru need not always be in human form. To me the whole world was Guru. (Datatreya said that the earth, water, fire, air, snake and everything were his guru as he learnt something from everything. Once Kanchi Paramacharya Chandrasekara saraswathi of Kanch Sankara Mut said that people call him Jagath Guru but to him Jagath itself is the Guru.)
•
All the different margas (jnana, bhathi, dyana, yoga etc.) lead to the same goal. Bhakthi is the mother of Jana marga.
•
About sleepless sleep of Jnani (which Krishna says in Geetha ‘he who is asleep where others are awake’), Maharishi replied that Jnani is in sleep, but not unconscious as in sleep by others but fully awake to Self in sleep. It is called ‘turiya’ state.
•
If we concentrate on any thought and go to sleep in that state, immediately on waking up the same thought will continue in our mind. People who are given chloroform are asked to count one, two etc. A man who goes under chloroform effect, say after saying 6, will start saying seven, eight when he is back to conciousness.
•
Snakes raise their hood and look into our eyes and they seem to know when they need not be afraid and then pass over that. (Maharishi was replying when some one asked Him about His encounter when a cobra quietly went away when confronted by Maharishi. Similarly, when Yukteswar Maharaj was standing outside His hut, a cobra came raising its hood and hissing. Maharaj started laughing and clapping His hands as if He is seeing a beloved child. The cobra quietly put its head down and slithered in between His legs – Autobiography of Yogi by Paramahamsa Yogananda.)
•
We in reality are sath, chith, ananda. But we imagine that we are bound and have all these pains.
•
All talk of surrender is like pinching jaggary from jaggary image of Lord Ganesha and offering it as naivedya to Lord Ganesha. When you say you surrender your body, soul and all possessions to God, were they yours that you could offer them? At best you can only say “ I falsely imagined till now that all these which are yours were mine. Now I realize that they are yours (God). I shall no more act as if they are mine.”
•
Each one should be allowed to go his own way. It will not do good to convert him to another path by violence.
•
Replying to a person’s question whether it will not help a person in the beginning stages to go on pilgrimage, Maharishi replies: ‘It does not really rest with a man whether he goes to this place or that or whether he gives up his duties or not. All that happens are according to destiny. All activities that the body is to go through are determined when it first comes in to existence. It does not rest with you to accept or reject them. The only freedom you have is to turn your mind inward and renounce activities there.
•
To a question whether only important events in our life is pre-determined or even small events, Maharishi replied that even a small event like moving a cup from one place to another is predetermined. Every event is predetermined.

•
All are one, and that, therefore, only what the ONE wills can ever really be pleasant for any one.
•
Do not mistake your body for yourself –neither physical, astral or mental. Know yourself as their Master(Guru).
•
Your thought about others must be true. You must not think of them what you do not know.
•
All anger is foolish.
•
It will greatly help stopping often to think: “what would the Master think about this. What would the Master say or do under these circumstances.”
•
If you hear a story about another do not repeat it; it may not be true; even if it is, it is kinder to say nothing.
•
Be true in action. Never pretend to be other than you are, for, all pretence is a hindrance to pure light of Truth.
•
Remember that all selfish desires bind, however high may be its object.
•
Have no desire for psychic powers. They will come when Master knows it is best for you to have them.
•
Never wish to shine, or to appear clever; Have no desire to speak.
•
Much common talk is unnecessary and foolish. When it is gossip, it is wicked. So, be accustomed to listen rather than to speak.
•
If you see cruelty to a child or animal, it is your duty to interfere. If you see any one breaking the law of the country, you should inform the authorities.
•
Control temper.
•
What happens to a man from outside must not be allowed to affect his calmness of mind. They are all the result of past actions and when they come you must bear them cheerfully, remembering that all evil is transitory. They belong to past lives and you cannot alter them; so it is useless to trouble yourself about them. Think rather of what you are doing now, which will make the events of your next life, for, that you can alter.
•
Never allow yourself to be sad or depressed.
•
Use everyday your thought power for good purpose.
•
Hold back your mind from pride, for, pride comes out of ignorance. Every work is done by God alone.
•
Because you try to take up higher work, you must not forget your ordinary duties.
•
Some old ceremonies may seem absurd to you; perhaps indeed they really are so. Yet, respect them for those good souls to whom they are important. They (ceremonies) are like double lines, which guided you as a child to write straight.
•
Bear your Karma cheerfully. However hard it is, be thankful that it is no worse.
•
All helpful and unselfish work is Master’s work.
•
You must trust your Master; You must trust yourself. Trust Master, because if you do not, even He cannot help you.
•
Real you is a spark of God’s own fire; because there is nothing that you cannot do, if you will. Say to yourself “What man has done, man can do. I am a man. Yet also God in man; I can do this thing, and I will.”
•
Of all the qualifications Love is the most important. Love is indeed the will to be one with God, not in order that you may escape from weariness and suffering, but in order that because of your deep Love for Him, you may act with Him and as He does.
•
In daily life this (i.e. Above mentioned) means two things: (i) you shall be careful to do no harm to any living thing. (ii) you shall always be watching for an opportunity to help.
•
Three sins which work more harm than all else in the world are: GOSSIP, CRUELTY, SUPERSITION.
•
Refuse to listen when anyone speak ill of another, but gently say “perhaps this is not true and even if it is, it is kinder not to speak of it.”
•
There is cruelty in speech as well as in act. THESE YOU SHOULD NOT DO.
Pranams to all Himalayan Masters. -0-
