Subtitle – Memorial for Religious Inflict Victims & Civic Centre in Godhra
Background – Memorials are a representation of emotions like grief, gratitude, fear, shame and anger. Memorials are essentially reminders of important historical events or people significant to our cultures. They are a way of preserving our memories, both good and dark, markers on a timeline documenting history of civilization. While the material and form of the markers may be contemporary, they preserve memory of events that get documented in historic texts. Memorials are one generation’s way of allowing the next to experience the emotions evoked by a historic event. Whereas civic centre provides the place for the growth of income and help the surrounding people to get business and help to improve their lifestyle. India is one of the most religious country, it is having various kind of religions in each and every state. The main two religions in India is Hindu and Muslim. This two religions are opposite to each other in terms of beliefs and due to it they often collide with each other one of the best example is the religious inflict in Godhra which was a huge scale conflict in which many innocent where injured and killed many structure were demolished, public transport was stopped and due to which the Godhra citizens which were caught under this inflict who lost their family members are still suffering. By providing memorial for the citizens who died in this inflict will be remembered and also the government will come to know the loos of the city during the inflict and also by providing civic centre near the memorial will be best business opportunity for the citizen to increase their wealth which they have lost in the inflict.
Problem Statement – The generation nowadays is less aware about the reason for their peaceful living. The awareness of the history is fading and the sacrifice of the people for peace is unknown. The people who were victims in the past activities; their families is still suffering from the incident financially and mentally.
Aim – Create a place where people can relive that struggle
Objective – - Symbolic nucleus to memories of people who’s major contribution in attaining peace. - To conduct multidisciplinary research on great dignitaries thought and activities. - To promote their ideologies and activities amongst youth.
Design Project This project will aim to construct the memorial for victims in secular inflict in Godhra, where the people can understand the history and recall the sacrifice of the people. It will also aim to construct a civic centre which will help to create business opportunity for the families of victims and also act a attraction point in the city thus emphasizing the memories of forgotten.
Methodology – - To study their religious equality among the people. - To study the reason behind inflict. - To study about the people behind the peace. - To collect the data of the loss and financial status of victims families.
Identified Case Study – - Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Ahmadabad. By - Charles Correa. - Sardar Patel Memorial, Karamsad. By – Ar. Suryakant Patel. - The Chandigarh War Memorial. By – Shivani Guglani and Nanaki Singh - Civic Center, Ahemdabad.
Expected Outcome – This project will to remember the person behind the peace. It will help to decrease religious inequality. This project will provide a financial platform for the victims families which are suffering financially due to inflict.
Scope and Limitation – The scope of the project is to provide a centre where people can relate themselves with the great dignitaries and also generate income. The limitation of the project is the inequality among the people residing in surrounding.
