MEMORANDUM TO: MR. ALFREDO CARLOS JR. FROM: ARGEL T. CRUZ SUBJECT: TOM MENDOLA DATE: JUNE 30, 2007

1.0 Problem of the Case

The problem of the case is poverty. The root cause of poverty in this situation is the lack of family planning. Stated in the material, Tom Mendola has nine other siblings; obviously it is too much for a poor family. In this instance also, Tom is only seventeen years of age, this is the reason why he lacks interest and easily gets burned out in doing his job.

2.0 Areas of Consideration

Mendola’s father was in a bad health condition, he can’t work to support the needs of the family. He stopped his schooling because of poverty, and also due to poverty and the lack of resources, he needs to work even if he is only seventeen years old. He showed the “ningaskugon” bad habit. He only love what he does for only some time, and after the very short period of time, he is in search for another job to do.

3.0 Alternative Courses of Action

3.1 Revert to his drill-press job

PROS: Mendola is used in this job, since it is the second task that was given to him CONS: He might get lousy and get burned out again

3.2 Go back to studying PROS: If he graduated high school, there is a higher chance the he would get employed in a much better company CONS: Their money might not be sufficient to continue his studies

3.3 Tom Mendola must resign and find another company to work with PROS: If he found another company with a new job that is really interesting to him, he may find success and never get tired of doing his new job. CONS: It is very hard to find a company that hires under legal age persons.

4.0 Recommendation

I recommend option 3.3 because if the most practical way in the three given possible solutions to the problem.
