Matt Chisdock CEXP 537 Midterm/ Question 4
I feel that a maximal symptom limited graded exercise test should be an integral part of a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. I feel that before and after a patient enters into a program that they should under go an exercise test. Comparing and explaining the tests to the patient would give them evidence of their physiological improvement. The patient may or may not notice their improvement over the course of the rehabilitation program and this could give them insight to have they have adapted to their training. I think that this would also psychologically give the patient motivation to continue exercising after they leave the program. Performing an exercise test before a patient enters the program may also be beneficial to the exercise physiologist. Often the results of a patients exercise test may not be maximal. This would allow a proper exercise prescription to be written for the patient.
