SAFELY HOME I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! But Jesus’ love illumined Every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that was so hard to tread; And with Jesus’ arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still; Try to look beyond earth’s shadows, Pray to trust our Father’s Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth You shall rest in Jesus’ land. When that work is all completed He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come.
Mass of the Resurrection A. INTRODUCTORY RITES 1. Sign of the cross, greeting, sprinkling and blessings 2. Funeral Processional Hymn: “Be Not Afraid” BE NOT AFRAID You shall cross the barren desert, But you shall not die of thirst. You shall wander far in safety though you do not know the way. You shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand. You shall see the face of God and live. REF. Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow me, And I will give you rest. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, You shall not drown. If you walk amid the burning flames, You shall not be harmed. If you stand before the pow’r of hell and death is at your side, Know that I am with you through it all. REF. Blessed are your poor, For the kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are you that weep and mourn, For one day you shall laugh. And if wicked tongues insult and hate you all because of Me Blessed, blessed are you. REF. B. LITURGY OF THE WORD 1. FIRST READING: A Reading from the Book of Wisdom The righteous, through they die early, will be at rest. For old age is not honoured for length of time, or measured by number of years; but understanding is grey hair for anyone, and a blameless life is ripe old age. There were some who pleased God and were loved by him, and while living among sinners were taken up.
Chell Jarencio-Bengzon
They were caught up so that evil might not change their understanding or guile deceive their souls. For the fascination of wickedness obscures what is good; and roving desire perverts the innocent mind. Being perfected in a short time, they fulfilled long years; for their souls were pleasing to the Lord, therefore he took them quickly from the midst of wickedness. Yet the peoples saw and did not understand, or take such a thing to heart, that God’s grace and mercy are with his elect, and that he watches over his holy ones. The Word of the Lord

2. RESPONSORIAL PSALM: (Psalm 23)
Romeo Candido
Refrain: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. Verses: 1. The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose. Near restful waters He leads me, to revive my drooping spirit. 2. He guides me along the right path; He is true to His name. If I should walk in the valley of darkness no evil would I fear. You are there with your crook and your staff, with these you give me comfort. 3. You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes. My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowing. 4. Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days of my life. In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell forever and ever. 3. SECOND READING A Reading from the letter of Paul to the Romans
Carl Bengzon
What then are we to say about things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. The Word of the Lord.

4. GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: “Celtic Allelluia” (sung before & after Gospel reading) 5. GOSPEL A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John 14: 1-6 Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died. But the one who eats this bread will live forever.” The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ

That Marilyn’s family who journeyed with her as she battled cancer the last three years, will look upon those years as God’s special gift - a special opportunity to show their love for her as they cared for her and ministered to her needs. That Marilyn’s friends who grieve her loss, will look back on her life and remember how she touched their lives so that they, in turn, can touch other lives in the same way;

That Marilyn’s courageous fight against the ravages of cancer serves as a testimony to all that even in pain and suffering one finds strength to keep on fighting when one keeps her focus on the Lord; That our memories of Marilyn will not simply be ‘tucked away’ in the recesses of our mind but instead manifest itself in acts of care and compassion for the sick as the legacy she leaves behind; That Marilyn will find the rest, peace and joy that has eluded her in this life as the Father welcomes her home;
1C. LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST 1. Preparation of the Altar: ON EAGLE’S WINGS You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord, Who abide in His shadow for life, Say to the Lord, "My Refuge, My Rock in Whom I trust." REF. And He will raise you up on eagle's wings, Bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His Hand. The snare of the fowler will never capture you, And famine will bring you no fear; Under His Wings your refuge, His faithfulness your shield. REF. You need not fear the terror of the night, Nor the arrow that flies by day, Though thousands fall about you, Near you it shall not come. REF.
