The Duffy’s in Cambodia
Sihanoukville MARCH 21 2009
time with The Mission WorldWide

schedule, while sitting in on a couple of the meetings that they had arranged. We met with Aple (who are on the frontlines of the child sex trade), and People Improvement Organization (who provide assistance and education for women and children at the city dump). It was very disturbing, but informative. What is a daily occurrence in this part of the world is shocking.
We’ve made it to the coastal town of Sihanoukville. On the 28th, the Holbeche’s arrived in Phnom Penh, and we continued our busy work
On the 7th, we hopped in a taxi and made the 3hr trip SW to the coastal town of Sihanoukville, which holds the reputation of being the capital
of the child sex trade here in Cambodia. The beaches here are beautiful, and the water is warm and inviting. The weather is blistering hot, and the tourists fill the town, looking to exploit this country in whichever way they can. The last couple weeks have been spent acquiring information, and recharging ourselves! Jenny & I have been in need of some good R&R lately. We return to Phnom Penh around the 24th. (josh)
Goodbye to Cambodia Mission Outreach (for now) The children’s cries of “Ahtay’” were humorous as our teachers asked them if they wanted to see us go. One little boy asked me to bring him back some gifts from Sihanoukville!! We have grown incredibly close to the children of New Hope School in the past 4 months, and even here, on the coast, they are close to our hearts. Many of the children here in Cambodia do not have the chance for a truly meaningful life. Their inno-
cence has been cruelly taken from them. And their future seems way too intimidating to overcome. Some, in Cambodia, work with this reality directly. Jenny & I have been working with it indirectly. When people meet Jesus, they change. Motives are redirected, and desires are changed. As we sow seeds of Love into as many here as we can, the result will be individual transformation, which grows into national transformation. All change
starts with the smallest, most seemingly, insignificant seed. Obedience is surely greater than sacrifice. (1Samuel 15:22). We are glad to be here, at the beautiful beaches on the Gulf of Thailand, but we will also be glad to see the amazing kids of New Hope School again. (josh)
Current Prayer requests: That the meetings we have in Sihanoukville will be instrumental in laying a solid foundation for The MissionWorldwide. That Jenny & I will get RESTED!! We are pretty tired. Our schedule is fairly demanding. That we will get so much closer to Jesus, and our times with Him will result in greater fruitfulness.

No Substitute for His Presence (jenny)
a recommended book: The Tears of my Soul by Sokreaska Himm
I believe that all fruit is a result of intimacy with God. I think it's far too easy to read books, attend church and conferences, and listen to sermons, as a substitute for spending time with God. I write both to myself and you, not excluding myself in anyway from what I believe is an important message for all of us. The best way to know about someone is to find out what they are like by talking to people who know them personally. Since you received some information, you would then know about that person.
We can take this approach with God. We can find out about Him by talking to people who know Him, and reading books and listening to sermons from people who know Him. We could use resources to know about God. But doesn't our heart ache for so much more? Didn't Jesus die so that God could know us beyond the level of acquaintance, and on a level that is an intimate, passionate relationship with Him? God wants us to know Him. We were designed for intimacy with the father. Should we stop listening to sermons and reading books
from incredible people of God? Of course not. We should do this all the more, since there is so much to learn and so much impartation to receive. But these things should never be mistaken as a source for knowing God. There is no substitute for sitting at the feet of Jesus and receiving His impartation. His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 2 Peter 1:3
