March 2009 Greetings from Montauban… Montauban Church hosts second “Theological and Biblical Intersection” 60 pastors and laymen from churches throughout Southwest France met in our newly renovated building to hear about the theology and life of John Calvin. Paul Wells, professor of New Testament at Aixen-Provence Seminary, spoke in the morning sessions about the sovereignty of God and predestination. Well-known French author and pastor, Eric Denimal, spoke in the afternoon about Calvin, the man. You can imagine that such subjects gave rise to animated discussion during the meals and question/answer sessions. All was done in good humor and with respect. A third “Intersection” is in the works for next January. We look forward to hearing Aix-en-Provence Old Testament professor, Paul Berthoud, talk about the Cultural Mandate found in Genesis and developed throughout the Bible.  Ask God to use the “Intersection” to strengthen the

foundations of many churches in SW France. Please pray that pastors and laymen will be encouraged in faith and service in Christ.

Home Ministry Assignment (HMA)

details in the months to come.

Our year-long Home Ministry Assignment (HMA) will begin in September. It has been 10 years since we spent more than three months at a time in the States. A year-long HMA will give us the opportunity to re-connect with you. We plan to make our home base in Annapolis, Maryland where supporting church, Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Annapolis has a house for visiting missionaries. More

St. Girons Church Plant Taking Root The Montauban church has been instrumental in establishing the church in St. Girons, a small city near the Pyrenees Mountains. We’ve contributed a quarter of the pastor’s salary for the last three years and just a year ago, the church was received as a particular church in our denomination. Pastor Jean-Philippe Bru has done a great job of consolidating the work of previous part-time pastors and the church continues to grow in numbers and commitment. As in most French churches, the St. Girons church is not yet self-supporting.  Pray with us that the church would continue to grow spiritually, numerically and in financial autonomy. Pray that the church would be a beacon of light in this area of France where there are so few Bible-believing churches.

Pastoral Search Continues… The Montauban church continues to look for a new pastor. There are very few French pastors available. Among these, imagine how many appear really suited to the particularities of our church.  Please continue praying that God would bring the right man to pastor the Montauban

church. Pray for wisdom and patience for the church council, which is charged with this responsibility. We hope a new pastor might be able to start this coming Summer or Fall before we leave for a year’s HMA.

Thank you for your prayers, support and encouragement, In Christ,
