Naughty Nimai One day a mendicant brahamin came to the house of Jagannath Mishra. He was a devotee of Lord Krishna and worshipped a Deity of Bala Gopal. He desired to offer food to his Deity, so he collected ingredients to cook for Bala Gopal. As soon as he offered the food naughty Nimai started to eat the offering. “Alas! Alas! This boy has spoiled the offering,” yelled the brahamin. “Wait tell I get you Nimai,” exclaimed Jagannath Mishra in anger. “Don’t beat him. He is only a little boy,” said the brahamin. “I will cook one more time.” Sacimata took Nimai to her neighbor’s house so that he would not spoil it. The brahamin cooked and made the offering. Nimai ate it again. “Aaaaah! This naughty boy has spoiled this offering. I give up. I’m done with cooking.” Everybody in the house was disappointed. They begged him to cook a last time. “OK I will,” said the brahamin. He cooked again. This time Nimai sent every one to sleep through His mystic potency. He came to the brahamin and asked, “why are you scared of Me? I came because you called Me. I cannot resist coming to My devotee.” Then baby Nimai showed His amazing eight-armed form (Krishna’s) to the Brahamin. He then told the fortunate Brahamin, “this is a secret. Please don’t tell this to anybody. If you do, I will punish you.” The brahamin spent a few days at their home in complete ecstasy and continued his travels happily ever after. -- Story and artwork (on right) by Nimai Charan Agarwal (age 7). He lives in Gaithersburg and regularly attends Sunday Sanskriti school at the Hare Krishna temple.
