Dear Resident, You probably received a mailer from my opponent recently claiming that the Town of Colonie transferred land to the Guptill Holding Corporation for use as a gravel mine. I am writing to assure you that nothing could be further from the truth. Simply put, the claim is a lie. It is important for you to know that there is no truth to the charge that the Town of Colonie plans to allow a gravel mine to re-open in our neighborhood. The resolution referred to in the mailer has to do with the Latham Tank Removal Project and not a gravel mine. The Latham Tank Removal Project is being funded by the Airport Authority and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. This $11,000,000 project will improve safety and upgrade our infrastructure. The Town of Colonie is very fortunate to receive these funds for this important project. My opponent had actual knowledge of the true facts before the mailer was delivered to you. He has purposely distorted the facts and created a climate of fear in our neighborhood for perceived political gain without apparent thought of the effects of his lies on our lives and property. As a resident of this neighborhood for over 20 years, I assure you I would do nothing to compromise our quality of life or our neighborhood. Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration of this unfortunate matter.
Sincerely,
Paula A. Mahan Supervisor
