This text will be describing the contents of the magazine, whether that be ‘2 weeks included’ or other catch lines to draw the attention of the audience.
This will be a shot including an ambulance and flashing lights. It will not include characters as the characters are revealed in the episode. The text could be ‘an accident?’. Usually soap covers include the characters names, however, because of the story lines intertwining, without using our characters, we can promote our serial and meta narratives further.
This shot will be of a meta narrative plotline, stemming from the serialnarrative. The focus will be on the brother of the lesbian. This hot could be the funeral, with a high level angle looking on to the grave and the people surrounding. A sub-title could consist of ‘MURDER or SUICIDE’. This will be shot 5 on the shot list.
This predominant area on the magazine cover will be for the Love Triangle serial– narrative. In the background, the two girls will be embracing in a posed manor, smiling and happy. This shot will be jus below should height and on a level angle. Using a level angle will show the audience eon the same level as the girls, showing equality between sexuality.
HE T ING TTER T E EC FL LD L E R O R S NG B . U I O G OL NAT ININ C S, ER TL CK ALT OU O D H G N S SIN G AN O , U IN AS SE SON A SE
By arranging this shot next to the love triangle, it juxtaposes the plotlines to be real life situations and extreme situations. This shows the audience a range of plotlines, giving them the ability to escape reality.
This will be a shot outside the pub of a physical fight. It will be a close up of two men, with a crowd seen in the background. We chose a close up for the audience to be able to identify the characters fighting and want to watch the episode to find out the reason why. The text will be ‘funeral feud’. This shot is in the shot list, shot 6.
In the foreground of the shot, the boyfriend will be standing, arms folded with a stern look. The camera angle will be level, however, because the boyfriend is in the foreground, he will seem taller and more supreme showing dominance or presenting him to be a main character in the episodes.
Another possible character that could be shown in this posed shot, is the brother of the lesbian. Although this will confuse the audience as to the part he plays in the episode, it will persuade them to watch the episodes to find out. The brother would look menacing, showing the mental state of the character and hint at what may occur in the episode of the soap.
This will be a banner of the main serial narrative, the bisexual love triangle. This has a separate banner as it is the primary shocker story so gets the larger section of the magazine cover or poster. The banner could say ‘Amber CHEATS on Coyle with Louise’. This automatically arises curiosity from the reader making them want to find out what happens in the series.
This will be a shot from the pub explosion. This will be a different shot to the advert. With a variety of shots in the advert, magazine and poster, the audience can guess what may happen and will want to find out in the series. This shot will be a dark establishing shot, showing gasoline and a flame. This portrays a fire or explosion. If it were possible, we would have used an image of the pub on fire. In the front of the shot, Bob will be standing looking vulnerable. The text will be ‘Bobs past is REVEALE’.
The kidnap meta-narrative will be laid out in the bottom right. The shot will consist of one included in the advert, including a forest with a couple of sleeping bags sprawled across the floor. The wide establishing shot, will show the audience the place and time in the bottom right corner. The shot will look like a camcorder. This is shot 9 on the shot list. The text will be ‘Emma’s KIDNAP, what really happened that night?’ This is a longer text sub-title, however it will explain the shot and entice people to watch the soap. The shot angle could be on a low level looking up to the trees. On the contrary it could be a high level, looking down from the trees onto the ground with the sleeping bags and disturbed dirt from a struggle.
