NEXT GENERATION SOLUTION

M4U-20A The system meets the Shock and Vibration Tests performed on 9N206-1 cabinets (DRS), compliance with MIL-STD167-1 vibration in each of the (3) major axes, and the requirements of MIL-S901D for (9) nine blow, medium weight, Grade B, Class II, Type A shock test ( Test Conducted at NU Laboratories in Annadale , NJ January 27, 2004, March 31, 2004, May 3-4, 2004 and June 22, 2004. Test Report 9800.7.

System controls are mounted behind the front door and include power control, system reset, and alarm reset. Indictors for power and power supply failure are provided and are visible through the front door. The M4U-20A is optimized for installation of a passive backplane and Single Board Computer. This configuration fits the mission requirements for quick access to boards for system repair and upgrade. A wide variety of active backplanes provides PICMG 1.0 and 1.3 compatibility for virtually any slot mix required by the plug-in cards including PCI-Express X1 through X16, PCI-X, PCI and even ISA. A hold-down bar provides for securing the cards for any adverse shock and vibration environment.

Primary construction is from high strength .060 aluminum alloy. A door covers the drives and air inlet. The front door provides an EMI / environmental gasket, honeycomb EMI filter and two captive fasteners on the door to secure the system from contamination. The lid is secured with a number of screws for a tight seal. The overall effect is a very robust enclosure to protect the system in any foreseeable environment.

An optional configuration allows for mounting an ATX motherboard when advantageous to the mission.

Cooling is provided by one 120mm hot swap fan providing 158CFM of high pressure air flow. The chassis is provided with three horizontal 5-1/4" drive bays and one vertically mounted 5-1/4" bay. A wide variety of removable drive sleds and other drives can be installed into these positions in integrated systems.

A redundant 4U PS/2 style power supply is typically included though other power supply options are available including DC input. A Mil Std 704 or 1275 compliant supply is available for military airborne or ground installations. The chassis provides a rear mounted ground stud and low smoke / zero halogen wiring is available for military compliance. Please Note - The M4U-20A is a semicustom COTS Plus solution. Chassis features and construction are tuned to exactly match the intended application and environmental requirements. As such, this is not an off-the-shelf item. Samples are available for evaluation.
