BUTANDING FESTIVAL March 13-15 Donsol, Sorsogon A parade of floats and papier mache of whale sharks locally known as �butanding� which feed in the offshore waters of the town during summer.

TABAK FESTIVAL March 20-24 Tabaco City, Albay A trade fair showcasing the cutlery industry of the town. Other events include a parade and a beauty contest.

RODEO MASBATENO March 18-22 Masbate City, Masbate A contest among cowboys in bull riding, bull wrestling and other ranch sports. Other events include a parade and a beauty contest.

BAYBAYON FESTIVAL April 26-28 Sangay, Camarines Sur A celebration in the white beaches of this coastal town.

May SARUNG BANGGI FESTIVAL May 18-25 Sto. Domingo, Albay The festival is celebrated nights with a torch parade and street presentation, a beauty contest and musical shows about the historical and cultural heritage of the town including a dramatization of the life of the composer of the song �Sarong Banggi�.

BOA-BOAHAN May 1 Nabua, Camrines Sur A festival that originated as far back as the pre-colonial times. Started as a fertility and thanksgiving rites, it now includes modern features.

DAYAW-DALAN FESTIVAL May 1-3 San Jacinto, Masbate �Dayao� meaning to show off and �dalan� meaning a pathway is in celebration of the town�s tribal traditions couples with modern merriment.

MAGAYON FESTIVAL May 1-31 Province of Albay A fun-filled action-packed month-long festival that features the province�s tourism, trade and commerce, religious sports, culinary and cultural potentials.

CAPALONGA FESTIVAL May 12-13 Capalonga, Camarines Norte The Feast of the Black Nazaene that shows the community�s religious fervor in a series of solemn processions.

KAOGMA FESTIVAL May 21-27 Province of Camrines Sur �Kaogma� meaning �a good time� lives up to its name because it features fun-filled activities such as parades, cultural expos, sports and a beauty contest. CONTACT: (054) 477-3172

PADARAW FESTIVAL May 30 Bulan, Sorsogon This festival features the importance of abaca fiber by using it for costumes worn in a parade.

GINUBAT FESTIVAL June 11-12 Gubat, Sorsogon This coastal town blessed with level white beaches in a cone has reason to celebrate every year because picnickers go there in droves at anytime of the year. PINYASAN FESTIVAL June 18-24 Daet, Camarines Norte In celebration of the sweet, succulent pineapple that abounds in the province, this festival features a street parade, art exhibits, trade fairs, cultural dances and sports events.

PILI FESTIVAL June 20-21 Sorsogon City, Sorsogon The pilinut, the raw material of the most delicious confectionery concocted only in Bicol, is features in this festival with parades and exhibits. CONTACT: Mayor�s office

August MERCEDES FESTIVAL August 6-11 Mercedes, Camarines Norte Based mostly in the sea, this festival highlights people�s relationship with nature and its bounties.

JOROAN PILRIMAGE 3rd Saturday of August Joroan, Tiwi, Albay This little coastal barrio in the northernmost tip of Albay becomes the hub of religious activities including a fluvial parade in honor of Our Lady of Salvation, the patron saint of the province. September HIMOLOAN FESTIVAL September 29 Oas, Albay

�Himoloan� meaning �offering� honors the town�s patron saint, St. Michael the Archangel, by means of parades and streetdancing. A contest of gaily-decked �carrozas� or carriages makes the parade lively.

HIN-AY FESTIVAL September 29 Irosin, Sorsogon Like the Himoloan Festival, it also honors St. Michael the Archangel by means of religious activities, trade fairs, food fests, a beauty contest and a mardi-gras type of parade depicting the battle between God�s angel and the devil.

PENAFRANCIA FESTIVAL 3rd Saturday and Sunday of September Naga City The Bicol Region�s biggest religious celebration honoring Our Lady of Pe�afrancia. It actually starts on the second Friday of September with the image of Our Lady of Pe�afrancia being brought from the Basilica Minore, where the image is permanently housed, to the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral where the image stays for one week. The highlight of the celebration is on the 3rd Saturday when the image is brought back tot he Basilica via the Bicol River in a grand fluvial procession.

October KASANGGAYAHAN FESTIVAL October 15-25 Sorsogon City �Kasanggayahan� meaning �prosperity and happiness� celebrates the foundation day of the community by means of street dancing called �Pantomina sa Tinampo.� �Pantomina� which depicts courtship, is the Bicol Region�s most famous native dance.

CATANDUNGAN FESTIVAL October 22-24 Vicac, Catanduanes This festival celebrates the town�s foundation day with trade fairs, sports fests, a beauty contest and street dancing.

IBALONG FESTIVAL 2nd week of October Legazpi City., Albay The festival showcases the ancient Bicolano epic that portrays the superheroes of pre-historic Bicol by means of s street parade, contests in native songs and dances, art exhibits, sports fests and honoring of Bicolano achievers.

December KAMUNDAGAN FESTIVAL Dec. 1-31 Naga City, Camarines Sur The busiest commercial hub of the Bicol Region becomes doubly busy this month as it celebrates its charter day anniversary with trade fairs, parades, cultural shows and the socalled "kiri-kiti� and �pastores� which are street dances celebrating Christmas.

PASTORES BICOL December 18 Legazpi City A musical re-enactment of the ageold nativity story. Colorfully costumed boys and girls sing and dance to the accompaniment of local �musikeros� or musicians.
