At 2204, with all pre-rleparture checks satisfactorily completed, EMERALDPRINCESS slipped her moorings and eased slowly thrust off from her berth. After passing through the breakwater we disembarked the local pilot at 2229 before setting an easterly course towards Capo San Sebastien. Having rounded Capo San Sebastien, north-eastwardly courses across the Gulf of Lions were maintained. 29TH AUGUST 2008 - MARSEilLE,

Overnight we continued towards the French coastline and the port for Marseille. At 0748 we embarked our pilot before entering the harbour and, once inside, the ship swung through 180 degrees to port before berthing alongside, Port side too. Overnight we continued to transit north-eastwards across the Ligurian Sea towards Livorno. Shortly after sunrise we embarked the pilot some 2nm due west of the port entrance. Swinging within the tight confines of the basin on arrival, we berthed alongside, port side to, at 0704. ITALY

Overnight, on predominantly south-eastwardly courses we transitted the southern part of the Ligurian Sea and on passing to the west of the Island of Elba we left these waters and entered those of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Continuing to parallel the Italian mainland we passed by the Island of Giglio before turning eastwards towards the harbour entrance. Our pilot boarded by launch at 0601 and on completion of swinging through 180 degrees, the ship berthed alongside, port side to, at 0655. With all pre-departure checks complete, EMERALD PRINCESS manoeuvred clear of her berth and passed through the breakwater of Civitavecchia. Turning back to the south-east and paralleling the Italian coastline once more we transitted back through the Tyrrhenian Sea on towards Naples. 1ST SEPTEMBER 2008 - NAPLES, ITALY

In the early hours we rounded the Island of Ischia, lying to the south-west of Naples, and turned up to the north-east into the Gulf of Napoli, towards our destination. Prior to embarking our pilot at 0625 and entering the harbour, we left the historic city of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius on our starboard side. Having swung on arrival the ship berthed alongside at 0726. Sky at noon: Partly cloudy Wind: South-westerly Force 2 Temperature: 26.6°C/79.8°F Air pressure: 1017 .2mb From departure Civitavecchia yesterday evening until our arrival off the port today, we steamed a total distance of 161 nautical miles at an average speed of 16.1 knots. Thrusting off the berth and passing through the breakwater, our pilot was disembarked at 1922. Courses were then set to pass close by the beautiful island of Capri before turning to the south-east and making fast passage towards the Messina Straits. 2ND SEPTEMBER 2008 - AT SEA

At 0419 hours EMERALDPRINCESS embarked a pilot and transitted the busy, narrow Messina Straits. This narrow channel separates the Island of Sicily to the west and the Italian mainland to the east. Clearing the Straits we continued to track southwards, rounding the "toe of Italy" into the western part of the Ionian Sea, before setting a south-easterly heading towards the southern tip of Peloponnesus and the Elafonisou Channel. At 0200 this morning, the ships clocks were advanced to GMT +3 to bring us to the correct time zone for our future ports of call. Sky at noon: Fine & clear Wind: Nortth-Westerly Force 8 Temperature: 26.8°C/80.2°F Air Pressure: 1016.1 mb Around 2300 the ship passed through the Elafonisou Channel, which separates Peloponnesus and the northern coastline of the Greek island of Kithira, into the south-west part of the Aegean Sea. This Channel is the "shipping gateway to Greece" and is consequently busy with ships transiting both east and west, to and from Greece. The ship then turned north-eastwards, meandering through the numerous Greek isles, passing to the north of Paros and onto Mykonos.

3RD SEPTEMBER 2008 - MYKONOS,

GREECE

Having picked our way through the many small Greek islands all pre-arrival were completed by 0543 and our pilot embarked at 061 0 by launch. EMERALDPRINCESS The ship approached her anchorage. The ship brought up on her both port and starboard anchors, with 5 shackles of cable in the water port. (1 shackle of cable = 27.5metres). Tender operations commenced shortly thereafter. Sky at noon: Fine & clear Wind: Northerly Force 6 Temperature: 23.5°C/7 4.3°F Air pressure: 1013.8mb From departure Naples on Saturday until our early morning arrival, EMERALDPRINCESS steamed a total distance of 692 nautical miles at an average speed of 19.6 knots. With all pre-sailing checks complete, EMERALDPRINCESSThe ship commenced shortening in her cable and at 1549 with a clear anchor initially headed due west to clear the island of Mykonos. Courses were then set to round the southern tip of the island before tracking to the north and north-east towards the Dardenelles (Canakkale Bogazi). This narrow strait, which is approximately 40nm long and 1.5nm wide in parts, leads north-east from the Aegean into the Marmaris Sea. The north-west side is, forthe greater part steep, but throughout its length the southeast is a shallow bank. A pilot embarked for this transit at 2349. 4TH SEPTEMBER 2008 - ISTANBUL, TURKEY

Having cleared the strait in the early hours, we passaged directly north-eastwards across the Marmaris Sea towards the port of Istanbul, where we embarked another pilot at 0726 prior to berthing alongside, starboard side to. Sky at noon: Partly cloudy Wind: East North Easterly Force 2 Temperature: 25.3°C/77 .5°F Air pressure: 1015.2mb From departure Mykonos yesterday lunchtime until our arrival alongside, we steamed a total distance of 308 nautical miles at an average speed of 20.2 knots. With confirmation of all passengers and crew onboard and with all pre-sailing checks complete, EMERALD PRINCESS let go all lines and manoeuvred slowly off the berth. Once clear, the ship turned commenced to moving astern to clear the berth. After we stopped the ship and commencing to swing the bor to port to regain the track and set on pre-dominantly south-westerly courses, re-tracing her track through the TSS of the Marmaris Sea and back down towards the Dardenelles. This narrow strait is extremely busy, with shipping steaming to and from the many ports along the Bosphorus and the Black Sea. 5TH SEPTEMBER 2008 - KUSADASI, TURKEY

Overnight the ship continued to steam into the mid-Aegean Sea and in the early hours turned due east for her run into the Turkish port of Kusadasi. We embarked our local pilot at 1149 some 3 nautical miles off the harbour; the ship turned the bow to starboard then proceeded back directly to her assigned pier, berthing alongside, Port side to at 1205. From departure Istanbul yesterday evening until our arrival off the port today, we steamed a total distance of 336 nautical miles at an average speed of 20.5 knots. Having slipped our lines, the ship moved thrust off the berth and was set on a westerly course out ofthe Gulf of Samos. Predominantly westerly courses were then set as the ship meandered through the numerous Greek isles, passing to the north of Mykonos and Kithnos and on towards Piraeus. 6TH SEPTEMBER 2008 - PIRAEUS (ATHENS), GREECE

In the early hours the ship entered the TSS to the south of the port; this TSS separates the inbound and outbound traffic to the busy mainland port. Prior to making our final approach, we embarked our pilot at 0453 and we swung the bow to port once complete the swing the ship came into the narrow breakwater passing through shortly thereafter. We made fast alongside our berth at 0542. Having disembarked our pilot at 1826, courses parallel to the eastern coast of Peloponnesus were set as the ship headed south towards the Elafonisou Channel once more. 7TH SEPTEMBER 2008 - AT SEA

Navigating through the Channel in the early hours, the ship passed from the Aegean Sea to the eastern part of the Ionian Sea. Rounding the southern tip of Peloponnesus, courses were set to the north-west. Throughout the course of the day the ship continued to transit through the Ionian, passing to the west of the beautiful Greek islands of Zante and Kefalonia, on towards the Otranto Channel and the Adriatic Sea. At 0200 this morning, the ships clocks were put back one hour to GMT +2 to bring us to the correct time zone for our visit to Italy. 8TH SEPTEMBER 2008 - VENICE, ITALY

*Throughoutthe nightwe continued our transit ofthe Adriatic, navigating between the many oil and gas rigs before entering the Gulf of Venice and on to the TSS to the south of Venice. This TSS separates the inbound and outbound traffic. With our pilot onboard, the ship then slowly navigated through the narrow, shallow canal network towards our berth in the centre of Venice, Molo di Levante.
