HAMILTON, Saturday, February 7, 2009, McMaster University The goal of this program is to provide educational skills, while satisfying  the  youth’s  desire  for  sport  and  recreation.  This  program  is  free  of  charge  and  open  to  newcomers  regardless  of  athletic  or  academic  ability.  Through  the  intervention  of  Ruby  Sarmiento  Amog  working  in  collaboration  with  The  Globe  Youth  Centre  and  McMaster  University,  this  is  the  first  in  the  Hamilton  Filipino  community  for  the  children/youths between the ages of 7 to 25 playing Basketball.    The children/youths met with Joe Razo coach of Marauders Basketball  team,  McMaster  University, Mike  Razo and  some  of  the  players  who  signed  autographs,  picture  taking  and  had  fun  with  them  especially  with  Mouctar  Diaby  (6'8",  280  lbs)  centre  that  finished  with  24  points  and  17  rebounds  to  pace  the  Marauders.  Both  children/youths  and  parents  enjoyed  the  tournament  (free  of  charge) between McMaster  University Marauders and Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks.     The Basketball training program is slated to start for the second week  of April 2009. Once Deanna Levy, my counterpart from The Globe Youth  Centre  is  finished  preparing  the  module  for  the  basketball  training  program.  FYI....any  children/youths  needing  fare,  bus  tickets  will  be  provided from home to place of training & back.
