Liminality Essay

For your Romeo and Juliet paper, you’ll be writing about: Liminal imagery and how it how it’s use reenforces the concept of Romeo and Juliet being temporary. For this essay, you will need to delve deep into the subject, to both explain what liminality is, where it occurs, and how Shakespeare uses this to his advantage in showing his audience the inevitable failure of R&J’s relationship. I’ll be expecting not less than 5 typed pages (12pt, Times New Roman, double spaced, 1” margins...) on the subject. In that length, you’ll need at least 15 quotes and specific examples, along with copious analysis and explanation of how/why those quotes show liminality, as well as how these examples speak to the larger theme in the play. Due Thursday, November 19th at the start of class.
