The E.E.C.of Stylida is an educational institution, that was founded by the Ministry of National Education in 1999. It is financed from the Community Frame of Support and the national budget. The teachers of E.E.C are from the preliminary and Secondary Education. They plan and materialize the projects and the actions of Center.

OBJECTIVE The sensitization of students and teachers in environmental subjects in order to develop attitudes and behaviors, that will contribute in the protection of ecological balance and the quality of life in the direction of a viable progress.

COLLABORATIONS ƒ For the achievement of its objectives the E.E.C.of Stylida collaborates with: ƒ The advisors of Environmental education and the other E.E.Cs of country. ƒ The Local associations and institutions. ƒ Productive groups of region. ƒ The Local and Prefectoral government. and other scientific institutions and international organisms.

ACTIVITIES ƒ The E.E.C. materializes programs of environmental education for students of preliminary and Secondary education. ƒ It founds and coordinates thematic Networks of Environmental Education in a national and international level. ƒ It produces educational and informative material ƒ It organizes training meetings and seminars on teachers and other social teams. ƒ It supports and encourages programs of Environmental Education of schools of prefectures of scope. ƒ It promotes the research in Environmental Education. ƒ It creates bases of data and files of information on environmental subjects.

1st project

GEOENVIRONMENTAL AND GEOMYTHOLOGICAL PATHS

The ancient Greeks have created a lot of myths that concern the intense environmental-geological changes that became in the greater Hellenic territory, a region with intense seismic and volcanic activity. ƒ These geological changes constituted the spark of our pastime with Geomythology.

Geomythology: Is the geological explanation of mythology. Greek Μythology is the Prehistory of Greece. Mythological period is the period of Homo Sapiens.

2nd project

Olive, Gods’ gift

OLIVE, THE GIFT OF GODS… ƒ This program of E.E.C. of Stylida, that is addressed in students of Kindergarden to Lyceum, it concerns the olive from the prehistory in Greece the symbol of good and victory. ƒ The beloved tree of Greeks continues until today, to be considered a divine gift, symbol of peace, protection and fertility. ƒ Its oil with the wheat and the wine, constitutes in the modern adoration a religious good.

3nd project

THE LIFE IN ALMYROPOTAMOS ƒ Almyropotamos is a coastal wetland of Maliakos. The wetland is characterized by continuous and constant flow of brackish water that results the existence an exceptional importance of fauna and flora. ƒ The choice of program became with base of the particularity of space and the danger from human interventions and trespasses. ƒ This program is addressed in students of Kindergarden, Public school, High school and Lyceum.

Near wetlands used to live people and lot of civilizations had been developed.

4th project

Meteorology : weather – climate

WEATHER- CLIMATE In recent times,the need for knowledge and comprehension of meteorological phenomena, becomes more and more imperative. They are many people that they believe that the meteorological education should be integral part of environmental education.The time will show….. We are corresponding in this need, so we installed two meteorological stations and we have prepared program that is addressed in students of Public school, High school and Lyceum.

5th project

Floods… Natural disasters???

FLOODS… NATURAL DESTRUCTIONS? ƒ Are the natural destructions only natural or we (as humans) have also played a role? The program examines the relation of destructions with other phenomena that they have finally relation with human activities (e.g. greenhouse effect, climatic change, extreme meteorological phenomena, interventions in the environment, the energy problem, etc). ƒ The program is addressed in students of Public school, High school and Lyceum.

OUR SEA

A separate natural environment

ƒ Maliakos gulf is one from the most appreciable closed gulves of Eastern Mediterranean, the natural continuity of valley of Spercheios river. ƒ Since the prehistory it had a big importance for its habitats. ƒ By that project we seek, the importance and the value of Maliakos for the environment and the people in ourdays. ƒ This program is addressed in students of Kindergarden, Public school, High school and Lyceum.
