Joint National Executive Officers and National Board of Trustees Meeting Cum Seminar-Workshop on the New Trends in Records Management and Archives Administration of the Philippine League of Secretaries to the Sanggunian, Inc. (PLEASES) to be held on September 9 to 12, 2008 at Pearlmont Inn, Lim Ket Kai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City, with a Registration Fee per participant of Php4,800.00 plus Php500.00 for the kit and other materials, Php400.00 for the 2008 Annual Dues (for those who were not in the Bohol National Assembly) and Php200.00 for the Membership Fee (for each of the new members) chargeable against the local funds of the LGUs concerned to be participated in by the PLEASES National Officers, PLEASES Regional Chapter Officers, PLEASES Provincial Chapter Officers, Secretaries and Assistant Secretaries to the Sangguniang Bayan, Sangguniang Panlungsod and Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Board Secretaries, Legislative Staff Members, interested LGU Elected Officials, LGU Department Heads, Office Staff Members and barangay officials

The Honorable Gentlemen and Ladies : In accordance with its Calendar of Activities for 2008 approved during the Meeting of the PLEASES National Board of Trustees in Murcia, Negros Occidental and reviewed during the PLEASES National Assembly in Bohol, the Philippine League of Secretaries to the Sanggunian, Inc. (PLEASES) will hold its Joint National Executive Officers and National Board of Trustees 3rd Regular Quarterly Meeting cum Seminar Workshop on the New Trends in Records Management and Archives Administration on September 9 to 12, 2008 in the City of Cagayan de Oro, particularly at Pearlmont Inn, Lim Kit Kai Drive of said city. The four-day affair which is focused on the theme: “Enhancing Local Legislation thru New Trends in Records Management and Archives Administration,” includes the scheduled Quarterly Meeting of the National Board of Trustees and the aforesaid Training SeminarWorkshop. - continued on page two -

During the meeting, the PLEASES National Board of Trustees will act on matters vital for the existence of PLEASES as a national organization and beneficial to its members and the LGUs. There is a need for all the local government units to establish their own archives to ascertain the effective preservation, protection and storing of records and data. For this reason, PLEASES decided to have a Seminar-Workshop on the New Trends in Records Management and Archives Administration in order for the participants to know the modern or latest ways of managing and archiving their legislative and other office records. Competent resource speakers from Congress, University of the Philippines, Asian Development Bank and other national offices and institutions will share to the participants their knowledge in Records Management and Archives Administration. In view hereof, may we hereby entreat you to allow your Secretaries to the Sanggunian, Assistant Secretaries to the Sanggunian, Board Secretaries, interested LGU elected officials, LGU department heads and office staff members who are handling or will be handling office records and records archiving to attend the Joint National Executive Officers and National Board of Trustees Meeting Cum Seminar-Workshop on the New Trends in Records Management and Archives Administration on the date and place stated above and to allow the charging against your local funds of the registration fee and other fees stated above. PLEASES is hopeful that by 2018 sixty percent of the LGUs will be able to have their own Archives.
