April 17, 2009 2149 39th St. Washougal, WA 98671 Congressman Brian Baird U.S. House of Representatives 2443 Rayburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515
Honorable Mr. Baird, In the November 27, 2004 Washington Post, you wrote an article entitled, “We Need to Read the Bills,” regarding the need for Congress to read legislation before they pass it. I agree with your sentiments then and hope that you still subscribe to that common sense policy today. In much the same manner, sunshine is the best disinfectant, allowing common sense to prevail over previously hidden provisions. The Federal Reserve has never had a public audit of its finances. The Fed is charged with setting monetary policy and yet is not required to divulge its own state of financial affairs. It is time we change this. Please cosponsor HR 1207 to audit the Federal Reserve. While Congress occasionally asks questions of the Federal Reserve leadership, it effectively has relinquished control over our economy to the quasi-governmental, quasi-private banking cartel. I urge you to support and specifically to cosponsor HR 1207 to provide for a thorough audit of the Federal Reserve. Sincerely, Michael and Katja Delavar PS. Your colleague from the ninth district, Honorable Adam Smith has publicly agreed to cosponsor HR 1207 as well. Please join him in supporting a common sense policy. –MD
