Letter of Introduction: Audrey Kosman To whom it may concern, My name is Audrey Kosman and I am a senior at Dakota State University. Originally, from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, I wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone and decided to attend school in Madison, South Dakota. What initially drew me to the school was being offered a position on the softball team for the school and later when I had the opportunity to visit was I shown the magnificent education program the school has to offer. Following that visit, I felt like I had found my new home and decided to start my journey to become a math educator here at DSU. I am currently working towards my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education with a minor in Spanish, educational technology, and center of excellence. Ever since I was young, I have always been passionate about teaching and it has been the only career I have wanted to pursue. Knowing that I am enriching the minds of young students is such a rewarding experience and I am honored to have the opportunity to make such a positive impact on young students’ lives. I am very thoughtful with my teaching because my experience with math was not always the easiest, so I focus very hard on making my students’ engagement with math an encouraging and empowering experience to help motivate them through the more challenging parts of their education. I excel at building relationships with people and I enjoy new engagements to learn about those that I will be interacting with. Starting off on a positive note sets teachers up for success and I am very much looking forward to building positive relationships with my students. I feel very confident in leadership positions, which is what a teacher should have instinctually. I have been able to grow in a leadership role as I was nominated for two years to be one of the captains on the Dakota State University Softball team. I enjoy directing people in a constructive way in order to see them succeed and have been able to practice these skills to best prepare me for the classroom. I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge through sports, extracurricular activities, and the classes at DSU. Therefore, I feel prepared to embark on my career at your school and offer my skills and positive mathematical and leadership abilities. Yours Faithfully, Audrey Kosman
