LESSON 9

Biblical Results of the Anointing he anointing brings countless blessings, according to Psalm 89:19-29:

T

Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven. This passage teaches that the following results will be seen upon those who are anointed: • They will be called servant (see verse 20). • God’s hand will be with them (see verse 21). • God’s strength will be with them (see verse 21). • They will know freedom from deception (see verse 22). • They will know freedom from the affliction of the wicked (see verse 22). • They will know God’s victory over enemies (see verse 23). • They will know God’s faithfulness and mercy (see verse 24). • They will have influence over nations (see verse 25). • They will have a Father/child relationship (see verse 26). • They will know God’s saving power (see verse 26). • They will partake of God’s covenant (see verse 28). • Their descendants will be established (see verse 29).

The anointing brings a radiant countenance, as Psalm 104:15 indicates: “And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.” The anointing breaks bondages and relieves burdens, as we see in Isaiah 10:27: “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.” The anointing brings physical healing, as Mark 6:13 teaches us: “And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.” The anointing brings liberty to the oppressed and causes us to know God’s presence, as we read in Acts 10:38: “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” The anointing brings joy that exceeds any joy known on the earth, according to Hebrews 1:9:“Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” The anointing gives us spiritual sight and insight, as we learn from Revelation 3:18: “I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.”
