LESSON 6
The Transfer of the Anointing he anointing can be transferred—and it can be transferred by you and me. We are vessels of God. We must accept that we are vessels and be honored by this wonderful privilege. The Bible does not say that nothing is impossible to God but that nothing is impossible with God. Therefore, God is looking for vessels to use. But do not allow your vessel to be weakened. You cannot put new wine in old bottles. Make sure your vessel is fit for God’s use. The anointing is transferred in strength to the strong. God told Moses to give Him the best, not what was flawed. God’s abiding presence is for fellowship, yet His power is for service. The presence is given that we might know Him, while the power is given that others might know Him through us. The power is for service, not fellowship. The presence is for fellowship. The presence affects the human spirit; the power affects the human body, and it can be transferred.
T
WAYS THE ANOINTING WAS TRANSFERRED The anointing can be and must be transferred from person to person. God will not perform His mighty works without you, and you need the anointing. One way you receive it is through transfer. The scriptures below teach us how the anointing was transferred in biblical times. 1. Through you and me. 2. Through a staff of Elisha: “Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way: if thou meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute thee, answer him not again: and lay my staff upon the face of the child” (2 Kings 4:29). 3. Through the bones of Elisha: “And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet” (2 Kings 13:21). 4. Through cloth, etc.: “And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or

country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole” (Mark 6:56). 5. Through a shadow: “Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them” (Acts 5:15). 6. Through Paul’s hands: “He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much heard whether there be any Holy Ghost” (Acts 19:2). 7. Through the body of Paul: “And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul. So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirit went out of them” (Acts 19:12). God always requires a vehicle for the anointing. He will not do it Himself. THE PURPOSE OF GOD’S PRESENCE God’s presence exists for and results in: • Fellowship • Intimacy • Knowing God • Knowing God’s voice • Knowing God’s ways RESULTS OF THE ANOINTING God’s anointing has seven results: 1. Revelation to your heart: “Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense” (Exodus 25:6). 2. Supply for your needs: “For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth” (1 Kings 17:14). 3. Cancellation of debt: “Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? Tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid

hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. The he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all they neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon they sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. So she went from him, and shut the door upon her and upon her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured out. And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed. They she came and told the man of God. And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest” (2 Kings 4:1-7). Deliverance from enemies: “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over” (Psalm 23:5). Blessings on all you do: “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore” (Psalm 133). Power for your faith: “Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield. For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth” (Isaiah 21:5-6). Healing in your life: “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him” (Luke 10:33-34).
