Book of Mormon Stories Book of Mormon stories that my teacher tells to me Are about the Lamanites in ancient history. Long ago their fathers came from far across the sea, Giv’n the land if they lived righteously. Ammon was a missionary serving Lamanites, Tending King Lamoni’s sheep for several days and nights. Robbers came; he saved the sheep by fighting fearlessly. He had learned he could live righteously.
I Hope They Call Me on a Mission I hope they call me on a mission, when I have grown a foot or two. I hope by then I will be ready, to teach and preach and work as missionaries do.

Narrator: King Lamoni was converted along with thousands of other Lamanites. From this we learn that the Lord protects missionaries and gives them great power to do His work. (The End) Everyone will go back to their seats. A returned missionary will talk with the children about a 5 minute experience he had on his mission where he was protected by the Lord and given great power like Ammon. Then our class will pass out papers to the primary children to write letters to our ward missionaries. We will pass out papers, crayons, and pencils (we’ll get them from the library). At the end, we will sing some missionary songs (words are on the back), while the kids finish up their letters.

Ammon: Cut off the arm of every robber who lifts his club to slay you. (Tap each shoulder with your sword of the Lamanite sheep robbers. They will have a fake arm up their sleeve that will drop to the ground, as if their arm was cut off when you hit them with the sword). Lamanite robbers: Raise your arm to slay Ammon with your club. When Ammon taps your shoulder with his sword, have your fake arm drop to the ground. Then slip your arm out of the sleeve and into the suit coat so it appears that you have no arm. The robbers became so frightened that they ran away. Lamanite robbers: Run away and go to the back of the primary room and sit down. The king’s servant gathered the arms and took them to the king. King’s Servant: Pick up the fake arms and take them to King Lamoni. King Lamoni was very astonished when the king’s servants told him what had happened. He wanted to know what power had helped Ammon. He was prepared to listen to Ammon’s message. Ammon taught King Lamoni the gospel. Ammon: Stand in front of King Lamoni with an open book of scriptures as if you are teaching him the gospel.
Narrator: Ammon was one of the sons of a righteous king named Mosiah. Ammon loved Jesus Christ and wanted to serve him. He asked his father if he could go teach the Lamanites instead of become king. Ammon: Go to Mosiah (stage right) His father knew this would be very dangerous, so he prayed and asked if Ammon and his brothers should go. Mosiah: kneels down to pray (stay kneeling while the next sentence is narrated and then you are done). Heavenly Father told Mosiah that he should let his sons go, and that they would be protected and help many Lamanites come to a knowledge of the truth. Ammon prayed and fasted that the Spirit would be with him and help him.

Ammon: Kneel down to pray. Then walk towards the Lamanites. The Lamanites will be standing in front of the pulpit (middle of stage). When Ammon went to the Lamanites, they tied him up and took him to their king because they thought he was an enemy.

King’s Servant: Look frightened. When Ammon heard this, he told the servants that he would help. He told them to gather the flocks and he would take care of the robbers. He knew the Spirit of God would help him. King’s Servant: Look relieved and gather the sheep together.
Lamanite robbers: Tie Ammon up and take him to King Lamoni (King Lamoni will be a primary teacher sitting on a chair near the pulpit). Ammon asked to be a servant to the king. King Lamoni liked Ammon and let him live.
When the robbers saw Ammon coming toward them, they were not afraid, because there were many of them and Ammon was alone. The robbers did not know that the Spirit was helping Ammon. Ammon: Walk towards the Lamanite robbers.
King Lamoni: Say, “You can be my servant and tend my sheep.” (Stay seated on the chair until Ammon brings you the arms and when Ammon teaches you the gospel).
Ammon began throwing stones at them with his sling with such great power and strength that it surprised them.
One day as Ammon and some of the other servants were taking the king’s sheep to water,
Ammon: Throw crumpled up paper at the Lamanite robbers. Practice so you can be good at hitting them each time.
Ammon and the king’s servant and all the sheep: walk towards the water (stage left).
Lamanite robbers: Throw crumpled up paper at Ammon, but miss him every time.
some of the king’s enemies came and scattered the sheep.
The robbers attacked Ammon with their clubs.
Lamanite robbers: Scatter the sheep. The sheep will be 3 primary children each holding a cardboard sheep.
Lamanite robbers: Pick up clubs and head towards Ammon with your clubs.
The king’s servants were frightened. They knew the king would have them killed if the sheep were stolen or lost.
But Ammon received such great strength from the Lord that he cut off the arm of every robber who lifted his club to kill him.
