SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES OF SECOND YEAR CLINICAL POSTINGS 1) Microbiology - To know the administration and functioning of a diagnostic laboratory - To know about the method of collection of samples, storage, reporting - To know about the staining procedures of Mycobacterium tuberculosis - To know about the sensitivity and specificity of commonly done laboratory tests - To know about the procedures involved in culture and sensitivity tests - To know the microscopic features of bacteria, virus, parasites of public health importance To know the Reporting of diseases in L form of IDSP - To know the confirmatory tests for the various screening tests 2) Pathology - To know the administration and functioning of a diagnostic laboratory - To know about the method of collection of samples, storage, reporting - To know the functioning of Blood bank - To understand the gross anatomy of organs affected with diseases of public health importance – Tb, leprosy, carcinoma, Interstitial lung diseases like asbestosis, silicosis 3)

Paediatrics -

To attend Inpatient rounds, manage OP Sessions under guidance & attend learning sessions To know about Paediatric immunization and optional vaccinations, management of AEFI To know the management of common paediatric diseases

4) Pulmonology -

To attend Inpatient rounds, manage OP Sessions under guidance To attend in Bronchoscopy and learning sessions in the department To know in detail about Tb lung diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, follow up and reporting

5) Dermatology - To attend Inpatient rounds, manage OP Sessions under guidance & attend learning sessions To identify various skin lesions & know the diagnosis including biopsy, management of common skin diseases especially Leprosy, Fungal infections, Scabies, Chicken pox 6) Opthalmology - To attend Inpatient rounds, manage OP Sessions under guidance & attend learning sessions - To learn the management of common ophthalmic diseases, (refractive errors, cataract) - To know the various diagnostic modalities of vision testing - To study about the various causes of blindness, blindness control programmes - To know about Vision 2020, Eye donation camps.
