RELEVANT EXPERIENCE SELECTED LAW FIRM PROJECTS

SCHNADER HARRISON SEGAL & LEWIS LLP FME, Architecture + Design is a strong advocate for a functional and flexible plan and also for the best use of the available budget – i.e. value by design. This process begins by discussing the overall project goals (project visioning) and determining a strategy to achieve those goals. Once the project goals are established, programming provides a micro view of the growth, functional and flexibility needs for the group and forms the planning criteria for further development. Our pre-lease services are designed to provide all the comparative information the client needs to make the best deal with the fewest surprises in regard to time and money.

BAKER & MCKENZIE

Once the lease is signed, our task moves to the continuing development of the plans and the best use of the available funds. Throughout the process, our 3D technology allows for a new level of communication – first with the client to understand the proposed solutions and finally with the contractor to both price and build the project. FME’s entire process is dedicated to finding the best solutions, providing a full understanding of all decision points and providing a work space that improves productivity and encourages the retention of valuable employees.

BAKER & MCKENZIE SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

As the client was renovating within the same building and occupied two floors with virtually unimpeded views located 14 floors above their new space, the objective and challenge was to design a space that could in some way compensate for the loss of premium view. This was to be done within a reasonable budget and time frame. The project entailed full demolition and construction from the same shell. The project team used high quality materials and finishes and custom designed furniture and signage throughout the project, resulting in a unique, sophisticated environment. Our focus was on creating interior architecture that was intriguing, sculptural and incorporated a special quality of custom lighting.

Stepping from the elevator, acrylic babbled cove lighting immediately highlights the use of limestone, wood paneling and Venetian plaster. A curved backlit identity wall, composed of ribbed acrylic panels, screens the restroom entrances and provides an animated focal point for the elevator lobby. Just beyond the identity wall is the reception area which introduces the “public square”. A custom desk anchors this space and leads to the window lined seating area that takes full advantage of the views. Expanding from the lobby, the square serves as a sophisticated public environment for lawyer-client interaction. In addition to the reception desk, the space is wrapped on two sides by conference rooms and by a marketing wall with a built-in flat screen on the fourth side. The interior stair with its wood paneled divider and cove lighting serves as the center point of the public square, uniting the separate uses of the four sides.

Accessed from the public square, the state-of-the-art conference facility includes plug-ins for laptops, built-in microphones, A/V drop-down projector and screen, and centrally controlled lighting and shades. Custom etched glass walls on two sides maintain privacy while providing views and natural light. A glass lined perimeter corridor provides ample natural light and leads into a room divided by a movable central wall that opens to form the largest meeting space. Modular tables in the room reconfigure to serve a variety of meeting and training requirements. The lighting, A/V system and window shades are all centrally controlled.

“FME understands how to work with law firms and their evolving needs. Throughout our ongoing relationship, we’ve worked closely with them to maintain our aesthetic standards while making efficient use of our space.” - Eileen Winter Executive Director Baker & McKenzie

STEIN & LUBIN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

More than 15 years ago, FME worked with Stein & Lubin to build out their new space in the Pyramid Center. Then in 2001, the client embarked on a project to expand within their existing facility by maximizing the number of smaller offices within the floor that they occupied. Plans were generated for a phased project that provided for an 18% expansion of the quantity of perimeter offices. The size of the floor and the building module provided the opportunity for existing 3 bay offices to be reduced for 2 bay offices. Extensive coordination of schedules and continuous on-site supervision by the general contractor provided for a successful solution to a very complex expansion within the occupied space.

SCHNADER HARRISON SEGAL & LEWIS SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

FME provided full interior design services in renovating the existing 18,000 sq. ft. office space. The scope of work included furniture services.

NOSSAMAN, GUTHNER, KNOX & ELLIOTT SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

This 30,000 sq. ft. client initially embarked on an analysis of similar available space and ultimately decided to “blend and extend” at their existing location of 50 California Street. The project included an expansion of 10,000 sq. ft. (1/2 floor) above the existing space with the addition of an interior connecting stair, new admin workstations throughout and a new multi-purpose conference and training center within the interior space of the expansion floor. Cosmetic changes were made to the existing space in a series of phased efforts.

CARROLL, BURDICK & MCDONOUGH SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

This project entailed a full floor expansion at 44 Montgomery Street of approximately 14,000 square feet. The challenge to provide a space that was compatible with the existing design aesthetic on the lower floors was achieved through a more modern design. Glass on the office fronts provided an interesting contrast to the more traditional dark wood vernacular.

THINK PANMURE SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

This project entailed renovation from shell condition for a well known financial services group in their Pyramid Center headquarters. The 12,000 sq. ft. space incorporated a new trading area, a training/broadcast facility and executive offices. The entrance focuses on the main reception area and conference room with innovative lighting solutions. The scope of work included specification of new furniture and equipment.

GRYPHON INVESTORS SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

A 15,000 sq. ft. build-out of a large open space trading floor used by the previous tenants, Deutsche Bank (a space FME also designed), to house the addition of perimeter and interior private offices and conference rooms. Extensive use of glass creates a sleek, modern aesthetic and takes advantage of the spectacular views of downtown San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay. Build-out also included the addition of an exercise area, locker room, restrooms and showers. FME provided programming, building selection, space planning, interior design and furniture specification for this well-respected private equity firm located on the 24th floor of One Market Plaza.
