Language Learning Biography My name is Izaaz Azzah Faizah. I was born in a small village in Blora, Central of Java. Most of the people in there speak Javanese as their first language. My father and my mother both can speak Javanese as well. But my mother spoke Javanese with East Javanese accents while my father spoke Javanese with Central Javanese accents. My first language is Javanese and Indonesia. My mother tongue is Indonesia. I started to learn Javanese and Indonesian both at the age of 3. I learn Javanese from my parents and for Indonesian, I learn from my uncle and aunt. When I was a kid, my parents were busy with their work so I was taken care of by my aunt and uncle, where my uncle can't speak Javanese because he is Sundanese so they talk to me in Indonesian. Until now I can't speak Javanese very well because my parent only taught me Javanese in 'Ngoko' way so if I was talking with an adult I prefer used Indonesia than Javanese. I had my second language when I was in early childhood at the age of 4 or 5 by sing a children song and read an English book. I started to hum every time I hear that song on the road or everywhere I go. It feels weird but I feel really happy to learn English. The second stage I learn English is during my primary school until my high school. Actually, I studied in Javanese based school, and English is not commonly used in every day as a communication tool although it's taught in the class. Also in the school, we just get a some and simple word of English.I tried so many ways to learn English outside school. At that time I got into Kpop when I was in grade 6 in Primary School. I started to learn English through Kpop. Some people might think Kpop is the Korean Language. But I will prove that mindset wrong. There is no Language barrier in this world. In fact, I can learn English from that kind of 'Kpop' thing. Before, I explain why Kpop is one of the factors that dominate the most in the way I learn English. I want to remind once again that I like English when I was Kid. Kpop is just one thing that happens in my way of learning English. From Kpop I gain so many new low-high level of vocabulary in English. Because I watch a lot of variety show of Koreans and music video but actually they provide English subtitle on there so I who can't speak Korean can understand. Not only from Video, I started learning English from Twitter in 2012, but it involves a 'kpop' things. I make friends with foreign people who can't speak Indonesia. From them, I gain so many a new Vocabulary and some slang word. At first, It's feel hard for me because I don't really understand what they said. After I get some Vocabulary I tried to read Fanfiction in English. I don't know but the magic was worked on me. That ' Fanfiction' thing really affect me on my Vocabulary. I can read 1 book in 300-500 chapters. I don't feel any pressure back then. I was really enjoying so much. So, I can say I learn to speak and write English self-taught.

When I was in Middle School I told my mother that I want to join an English Course. Because I feel I need to learn about grammar or tenses and I feel I can speak and write in English but in the wrong structure For the second time, the magic worked for me again. English Course affects me on some point, the First point is I know how to write a sentence in right tense. The second point is I get my confidence to speak to foreign people directly because of the speaking program that was given by the course. I speak English now because I am a student of English language education which every day I meet them and must speak English. And also all my college assignments all in English whether its reading, writing or speaking. But beyond that, I also speak English with my friend on twitter, or else I will use my English skills to comment on the web or on social media. Sometimes I also speak English with my brother because my mother told me to teach my borther to speak English so that my brother will get used to it when He grow up. English changed my life I felt like I was very confident if I managed to master English. Because when I have to travel abroad later in the future I already feel no longer afraid to talk. Last,Talking about differences in the Javanese language, Indonesian and English the prominent difference is the way of the pronunciation. The most difficult thing to learn in English is grammar, which if we write in Indonesian we must be written back. Like the example of a mobil Merah in English we should write red car.But the most easier thing to learn in English is Pronounciation, I didn’t get any struggled when it comes to pronouncing an English word. The difference between Javanese and English is that Javanese has a level of language in communicating with parents and with peers, while English is not.
