ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I am especially grateful to Tuan Haji Mohamed Yusoff b. Mohamed, a very special lecturer, for his very compelling encouragement and constructive comments. I am deeply indebted to my children: Muhammad Refaudeen, Mersyta Ruhe, Muhammad Rafeq, Muhammad Reezqan and Muhammad Remey for their understanding. I also wish to thank to my friends class for the many helpful suggestions and assistance.
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to my wife: Roslezah Hussin for always believing me. Her golden footprints cannot be adequately encapsulated in words. Her simple, yet worthwhile, life, however, can be succinctly expressed in one single word: love!

TASK 2 Reading the article, “The Web Finds A Job”, By Emily Flynn Vencat, published in Newsweek International has indirectly given a new perspective of distance learning. Since first founded in the late 1990s until to date, Open University has had a powerful impact on the public, especially on mature students who believe in lifelong learning.
As a mature student myself, the prospect of furthering my bachelor degree at Open University is like a golden opportunity that comes once in a lifetime. Never had I imagined that after years of working in education line, I finally had the chance to realize my dream of enrolling myself in an internationally acclaimed university like Open University Malaysia (OUM). A credit should be given to the advancement of technology especially in the use of the Internet in education that has made learning and teaching readily available online.
Being involved in class discussion and lectures facilitated by experienced educational expertise, have definitely encouraged me as a student to explore more leaning possibilities that are easily available either through digital library (could be accessed by all registered OUM students) or any other resources that could later be applied in the learning process. Through interactive teaching and learning methods applied in OUM, it is found that education is not only limited to what being presented on paper and delivered by the lecturers but could also be reached through unlimited

resources around us. This is in line with the globalisation era which aims at unlimited education worldwide.
It is hoped that OUM will soar more and continue to provide equal learning opportunities to students from all walks of life. Watching OUM expanding its potentials is a great honour to me as one of its students. Without a doubt, enrolling as a student at the university is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life! (317 words)
