ESP cable sealing description Korvet KSAP cable sealing system has number of advantages over conventional products such as penetrators: Simple design: KSAP does not require specially trained personnel for installation and can be tested up to 5000 psi WP. Safety: all versions have quick pressure test ports Easy installation: · only one spanner is needed No cable cutting required: during installation in tubing hanger or tubing head, the cable is left unharmed and therefore no splicing or epoxy work is required. Cost effectiveness: significant procurement cost advantage over wellhead penetrators. No electrical shorting: at tubing head because of no excessive connections. Workover: during workover operations only the rubber sleeves needs to be replaced. In Russia & Caspian Sea region Korvet has more than 20 thousand of such installations. System is approved by Shell specialists.

Working principle : The gland screw (1) pressurizes the rubber sleeve (4) and insulated cable (3). The ball bearing (2) assures low friction operation.

Wellhead design: eccentric tubing hanger

Typical application for safe BOP removing. Replacing penetrator with KSAP allows to save rig time, money at completion/workover and to avoid of electric shortcuts at producing and it removes with the usual issues of cable shorting at the producing wellhead.

Wellhead design: suspending tubing head adapter

Quick pressure test port

Mainly used in Former Soviet Union countries with wellheads for ESP production: where BOP removal allowed without “double barrier” rule. KSAP confirms the seal quickly and effectively at completion and as part of planned maintenance scheme.

Wellhead design: conventional ESP wellhead

Quick pressure test port in a tubing hanger

Typical application for well conversion from natural flow to ESP. Safe BOP removing. Quick pressure test ports for cable sealing on hanger. Replacing penetrator with KSAP will save rig time, at completion and workovers. It will enhance site safety by preventing “electric joint and associated shorting“ at the wellhead. To be supplied together with conversional wellhead. This design is lower cost alternative to expencive conversion penetrators.
