Knowing God Through Jesus (John 14:1-14) Why Apostles Hearts Troubled? Saw Jesus Troubled (John 13:21) Prophecy of Betrayal (John 13:21) Jesus said would only be with a little while longer (John 13:33) Prophecy of denial (John 13:38) Antidote to a Troubled Heart Trust in God/Jesus Maintain an Eternal Perspective “I will come back and receive you” I am The Way By grace, through his perfect life, sacrificial death & resurrection Unique – “No one comes to the Father except through me.” Acts 4:12: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men – the testimony given in its proper time.” 1 John 5:12: “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” While Christianity still dominates, the U.S. has a greater diversity of religious groups than any country in history. The Encyclopedia of American Religions lists 1,600 different groups, w/ 44% of them non-Christian. Half of these have blossomed since 1960. In fact, there are more Muslims in the U.S. than Methodists. Though better than four out of five of our young people believe that God is personally involved in people’s lives, 63% also believe that Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Jews, etc. all pray to the same god. 48% of today’s teenagers say that they believe that it makes no difference what religious faith you associate with because they all believe the same thing, and 58% believe that all faiths teach equally valid truth.

Acts 4:12: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all men – the testimony given in its proper time.” 1 John 5:12: “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” How can we follow the way? The Truth Class name: Truth Trackers “I came to bring truth to the world. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.” “What is truth?” Pilate asked (John 18:38) He is the Word and the Word is truth (John 1:14) Contrary to popular belief, there is absolute truth in the universe! All things are not relative. As CS Lewis, one of the greatest Christian minds in the 20th century puts it in his classic book "Mere Christianity:" "Being a Christian does mean thinking that where Christianity differs from other religions, Christianity is right and they are wrong. As in arithmetic - there is only one right answer to a sum, and all other answers are wrong: The Life (See John 1:4) The source of life at creation and by redemption (John 5:26, 6:33, 11:25) If you know/see me, you know/see Him (see John 1:18, 12:45) Miracles are evidence on the indwelling of the Father Faith in Jesus should lead to like works Greater in scope (quantity) not effect (quality) What enables? The Holy Spirit Whatever we ask (anything) in His name He will do, to bring glory to the Father What does it mean to ask in His name? Will what you are asking bring glory to the Father?
