KEVIN PRUFER
Kevin Prufer is the author of four books of poetry and the editor of three anthologies. His most recent collection, National Anthem (Four Way Books), was named one of the five best poetry books of 2008 by Publishers’ Weekly and Book of the Year by the Virginia Quarterly Review. He also serves as Editor of Pleiades: A Journal of New Writing and Vice President/Secretary of the National Book Critics Circle. In addition to three Pushcart Prizes, he has won awards from the Poetry Society of America, The Academy of American Poets, and the National Endowment for the Arts. His poetry and fiction appear in a variety of journals, including Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine, The New Republic, and The Best American Poetry series. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Prufer received his undergraduate degree from the College of Letters at Wesleyan University, an MA from Hollins University, and an MFA from Washington University. He is now a professor of English at the University of Central Missouri, and he lives in Warrensburg, Missouri with artist and literary critic Mary Hallab.
