Preface The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has issued letter of permission for starting the following Post Graduate Degree and Diploma courses in Pariyaram Medical College, Kannur under Academy of Medical Sciences from the academic year 2006-07

Duration of the course Duration of these full time courses including University Examination is 3 years in case of Degree course and 2 years in the case of Diploma course. Reduction if any in the duration of course, as per MCI norms will not be applicable at present. Last date of admission will be 31-05-2007. The post graduate courses of ACME are affiliated to Kannur University. III.
Eligibility for Admission (a) Academic: Applicants should have passed the MBBS Degree from any of the Universities of Kerala or of any other University recognized by any of the Universities of Kerala as equivalent thereto with eligibility for full registration in respect of all courses. Applicants who have completed Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship (C.R.R.I.) on or before 31.03.2007 are also eligible to apply for the examination, but admission to the candidates will be given only after obtaining registration of T.C. Medical Council. (b)
Nativity: Indian Citizens of Kerala origin or those who have been residents of Kerala for a period of at least 5 years are eligible to apply for P.G. Course. Nativity certificate shall be obtained from Tahsildars / Village Officers of Kerala State. The Certificate in the body of the application form itself shall be submitted. Other certificates are not acceptable and applications will be rejected in such cases. Note:- For applicants who have undergone M.B.B.S. course in the Medical Colleges of Kerala, a Certificate stipulating the above condition of nativity from the Principal of the Medical College, where he/she has studied will be accepted. 1

Age: Upper age limit for all candidates will be 45 years as on 30-04-2007.
How to Apply a.
Application Forms: Application form correctly filled together with the necessary documents should be sent by Registered post or in person to the Director, Academy of Medical Sciences, Pariyaram, Kannur before the time and date notified in the News paper advertisement and Prospectus. Last date of acceptance of application will be 5 p.m on 21-04-2007. Applications submitted should be complete in all respects and the certificates produced after the last date of receipt will not be considered at any cost.
b.
Cost of Application form: The cost of application form is Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) those who download application forms from the web site should send a DD for Rs. 1000/- on the name of Director ACME along with filled up application form. Others can gent the application form from the college office from 10-04-2007 onwards.
c.
Certificates/Documents to be produced along with the filled application form: Attested Xerox copies of the following documents: (i) M.B.B.S. Pass Certificate. (ii) House Surgeoncy (CRRI) Certificate. In the case of candidates who are undergoing internship in Medical colleges of the state, a certificate from the concerned Principals to the effect he/she will complete internship by 31-03-2006 should be produced. (iii) Certificate to prove age. (iv) Mark list of each MBBS examination

Seats: Distribution of seats: All the seats of various specialities are management seats.

Method of examination and evaluation – a.
Entrance Examination All candidates seeking admission for PG courses will have to qualify the Entrance Examination conducted by CEE, Kerala or All India PG Entrance Examination of 2007. All the seats offered are under management quota.

All candidates should have qualified PG Entrance Examination of CEE, Kerala/All India PG Entrance Examination (percentage of Marks). Grand total of the marks in all the subjects in the MBBS Examination (that will be converted to out 100). The subject marks out of 100 will be added to each speciality (Marks in Medicine for General Medicine, Paediatrics and Dermatology, Marks in General Surgery for ENT). 20% marks (maximum 40) for Viva Councelling 2
d.
Councelling I. Individual communication will be served on the candidates for appearing for the aptitude test counselling. II. Allotment of candidates and option for the subjects for all candidates will be strictly based on ranks obtained in the Entrance Examination. Allotment of seats: Will be based on the total marks obtained after adding the marks scored for MBBS (whole) and the marks obtained for the chosen subject (as mentioned on para 6 (b) and the marks obtained in the aptitude test. Certificate of eligibility/equivalency of the qualifying examination In the case of candidates who have passed M.B.B.S from universities outside Kerala.

Note : Documents/Certificates furnished after the submission of the application, will not be entertained under any circumstances. No opportunity will be given to incorporate any details after the submission of the application form.

Liquidated damages & Execution of Bond (i) General Terms: The applicants selected for Post Graduate Courses and PG Diplomas will have to execute two bonds in Rs.50 Kerala Stamp Paper each at the time of joining the course to the effect that (a) He / she shall not discontinue the P.G course he/she has been allotted to, after admission. (b) He / she will serve the ACME Hospital for a period not less than 2 years as faculty, after the completion of the course if there is vacancy. (ii) Conditions (a) If a Post Graduate student discontinues the P.G course after admission he/she shall pay Rs. 10 lakhs/- as Liquidated Damages. He/she should also the stipend/ Salary already received. (b) A candidate leaving one course to join another of his/her higher option in this institution itself. during the validity period of the Rank List shall not be liable to pay the Liquidated Damages. (c) No Admission shall be made without getting the bond as detailed above executed at the time of joining.

Validity of the list The validity of the rank list will be up to 31/05/2007 and the last day of admission will also be 31-05-2007

Duration, Date of joining, Attendance, Leave and Responsibilities

i)
The duration of the Degree & Diploma courses including University Examination is three years and two years respectively. For the purpose of reckoning the duration of the course, any candidate will be deemed to have joined the course on the date on which the candidate actually commences the academic programme as certified by the Principal. This date should be given as the date of joining in the Post Graduate register maintained by the University. He/she will have to complete the total duration of the course before being given the course certificate.
ii)
Attendance & Leave: The candidate should have a minimum percentage of attendance as stipulated by the universities. All the 365 days of the year are working days for post graduate students. However, they will be permitted to avail casual leave for 20 days, but not more than 10 days at a stretch. Any other leave will entail extension of the course. The candidate will be eligible for “leave under exceptional circumstances”, supported by medical certificates (subject to verification by medical board) recommended by the Head of Department, sanctioned by the Head of the Institution and approved by the Director of ACME. Those who take leave without prior sanction are liable to be considered to be on unauthorized absence. If the candidate is unauthorisedly absent for more than 10 days, he / she will be terminated from the course and liquidated damages will be levied. Those who are absenting themselves apart from the eligible leave will not be entitled to get stipend for the period of absence.
iii)
All PG students are eligible for weekly off for one day. This will be allowed by the Head of the Department concerned without affecting the routine functioning of the Department. Weekly off cannot be accumulated.
iv)
CMEs, workshops and other academic programmes conducted by recognised academic bodies are essential aspects of PG training programme. All PG students may be permitted to attend such programmes without affecting the routine working of the Departments concerned. The Heads of Departments shall sanction special casual leave to PG students provided they apply prior to the CME programme and the Head of Department is convinced about the genuinity of the programme and utility for the particular course. The student on returning from the programme should submit attendance certificate to the Head of the Department.
v)
No Post Graduate student shall leave the country without prior sanction of the Director. Any violation will be viewed seriously warranting termination of the course.
vi)
All the Post Graduate Students of Degree and Diploma courses will be full time residents of ACME. They will be assigned the duty of full time residents and are liable to undertake the duties assigned by individual departments or units where they are posted.
vii)
All resident Post Graduates students of Degree and Diploma courses under the Management Quota will be eligible for monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000/-.
viii)
All P.G. students are authorised to use the facilities of the Department library, Central Library, Telemedicine lecturers and internet facilities.
ix)
Free medical aid will be applicable as for other staff and students.
x)
Single accommodation will be provided in the hospital premises for all PG students.
Private Practice. Resident Post Graduate students shall not engage in private practice of any sort during the course of study. Any violation of this clause will entail termination of the course

The total fee for the course should be remitted as a one time payment at the time of admission. In case this is not possible the first year's fee should be remitted at the time of admission with bank guarantee for the balance amount. Note:- The fees once remitted except caution deposit will not be refunded under any circumstances. However if a candidate changes over from one course to another in the same college from the same rank list the fees paid for the original course will be adjusted to the new course.
