Description: UIS – UNIFIED INFORCE SYSTEM is the primary institutional system for employee/personallevel data. UIS is the centralized repository that stores eligibility & participation information of employees & his/her dependents for institutional customers. It maintains employer level control records, member level demographic & eligibility/participation information. The system can be broadly classified into 2 components • Online part • Batch part The Online part is also known as UNIF, consisting of thirteen different functions. Each function enables the users to perform a certain type of activity. Users from the Claims system, use the UNIF screens to verify eligibility and participant information of employees for a certain customer. The system is also used by Business Analysts of the UIS team, located in Bridgewater - New Jersey, to answer queries related to the application functionality. Online system is mostly used for inquiry and update.

These jobs perform a number of tasks such as extracting reports, modifying the INFORCE file, feeding eligibility and/or participant data to other MetLife applications, external vendors and agencies, printing of requested reports etc. Data is stored in VSAM/QSAM files on IBM Mainframe. The system has approximately 40 interfaces. It provides batch interfaces from other systems to receive data for claims processing. It also processes customer’s electronic feeds in a batch environment. The system is implemented using CICS, Cobol-II on MVS with VSAM as the database. Project#2: Title

Description: PM – PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT is centralized production support management for all the metlife applications. As part of this team, we are providing the production support for the two Metlife applications UIS (Unified Inforce System) and GBS (Group Billing System). UIS is my previous project and GBS is one of the interfaces to UIS, but it consists only for the billing the customer/employee based on the eligibility. UIS gives the employee level eligibility details to the GBS, based on this GBS bills the customer/employee. GBS uses the data base as VSAM and they have their own set of VSAM files. Prod support activities: • Both on-line and batch abends temporary and permanent fixes • Bug-fixes • prod outages • Business related queries • TCO(Total Cost Optimization) tasks – to reduce the CPU time taken by prod jobs Client Description: Metropolitan Life Insurance Company (MetLife) has a 138-year history of serving the American people.
