Women’s Rights AFGHANISTAN Robyn & Jessie
Human Rights
Everyone is Equal and Free.
In Afghanistan men are considered superior to the women.
Slavery and slave trade is prohibited in any form. Afghan women as young as six are married into a life of slavery.
No one should be subjected to torture Women have been publicly harassed, intimidated and beaten for carrying out activities deemed to be "un-Islamic."
Everyone has the right to equal pay for equal work. Women are forbidden to work, obviously not making the same amount as men. Women who were doctors and teachers before, suddenly were forced to be beggars and even prostitutes in order to feed their families.
Marriage shall be entered into only with the free and full consent of the intending spouses. 70 to 80 percent of women face forced marriages in Afghanistan
Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country. Women in Afghanistan have limited access to hospitals, advocacy services, courts, banks and even land.
Everyone has the right to education. Only 30% of Afghan girls have access to public education and 80% of Afghan women are illiterate.
