INTRODUCTION
• Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan and it is the financial capital city of Pakistan. • It is termed as the city of lights and the city of Quaid.
Location • It is located on the Southern west of the country and on the coast of Arabian sea.
HISTORY • Karachi started its life as a small fishing settlement by the Indus Delta named after an old fisherwoman, Mai Kolachee. • It was first called as Kolachi. • The settlement grew into a small fishing village. • This small fishing village gradually started trading activities by sea with Muscat and Bahrain.
Climate • Karachi has a mild climate with low level of average precipitation.
GOVERNMENT • Karachi is controlled by the city government headed by city nazim Mr. Mustafa Kamal and under him there are eighteen towns which are also contributing their shares in solving the problems and providing better facilities to the citizens.
FACILITIES
• There are many facilities for the people like many residential areas, shopping malls, International hotels and airport, hospitals, schools and many more.
SPORTS
• Cricket and foot ball are very famous here. Badminton, baseball, basketball and volleyball are also played in schools, colleges and universities.
VISITING SITES • Here are many visiting sites like the Air Force Museum, Pakistan Maritime Museum, National Museum of Pakistan, Karachi Expo Center, Bagh Ibne Qasim, Beach Park, Quaid-e-Azam’s tomb, Mohatta Palace and Clifton Beach.
PROBLEMS • As Karachi is a large, populated city, there are many problems faced by the citizens. • Some problems are traffic jam, pollution, unattended garbage, over flowing gutters which are affecting the health of people.
SOLUTIONS • As citizens of Karachi are facing problems like pollution there is also a solution like : • Planting trees • Proper system of disposing off chemicals . • There should be proper system of drainage so the gutters do not over flow. • Everyone should follow the traffic rules to avoid traffic jam.
