Harrow West Watch Newsletter for June/July2009 Pinner Police Station Open Day On Saturday 11th July between 11am and 3pm Pinner Police Station will be celebrating its 110th anniversary by opening its doors to the general public. It is an opportunity to meet the Pinner and Pinner South Safer Neighbourhood Teams, as well as police cadets and Special Constables. There will be the chance to walk into the old cells, which have barely changed since 1899, and look at genuine items of police equipment from across the decades. You may even be fortunate to bump into the famous ghost at the police station! A collection of old police cars, as well as a modern Traffic patrol car will be on display for you to browse and Territorial Support Group Officers, to talk to. Entrance is free; hope to see you here on the day.

Café’s and Restaurants Whilst visiting such places could you please be mindful of your belongings. Make sure your handbag/shopping/rucksack are visible. Be aware of what is going on around you. Don’t leave handbags unattended over pushchairs while ordering. Don’t Be An Easy Target!

Warm Weather ? Burglaries and thefts from cars. It only takes seconds for a ‘Walk In’ burglary to take place. Please remember not to leave front doors/windows open when you are in the back garden/upstairs. Likewise with vehicles, when it’s warm please make sure you have closed all your windows when you leave your vehicle. Do not leave valuables in or on visible display.

In the last two weeks, information has been received that there have been at least two telephone calls to residents in Harrow from a male, claiming to be checking security. He claims that the resident 'have been selected for a security check' and could they come round and look at the property. The caller in both cases knew where the resident lives. The telephone number was withheld. On both occasions the individual recipients of the call did not believe the caller to be genuine and declined the offer. One resident lives in Harrow on the Hill and the other in Headstone South. Please be mindful of individual's calling yourselves in regards to the above, if you have any other questions or queries please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
