You are a Champion! If you are receiving this newsletter, you are a champion of missions! You have at least taken the first step in your missions journey and are becoming informed about God’s activity in Uganda– congratulations! WGM is also taking steps in the right direction as they make a huge transition that allows them to be obedient to God’s calling of equipping God’s people to grow in their Champion: an ardent supporter of understanding of and involvement in His global a cause. Rose Jenkins is a purposes. champion of missions at Dobbins

With that transition comes new lingo, and so UMC, in Delran NJ I want to let you know that you are no longer just another “donor”, you are a champion! And you can have an incredible impact on the world as you advance the cause of missions within your sphere of influence. There is no one else in the world who has your family, your job, your friends, your gifts and your passions– and so you were uniquely created by God for a very specific mission! And so over the next few newsletters and on our blog we are going to be highlighting the nine characteristics of a missions-active Christian, and how you can grow in each of those areas. Instead of a characteristic this time, we would like to introduce you to one of our new champions: Rose Jenkins. Rose came to be the missions chair-person at her church when she noticed the overflowing missions mailbox in her church’s office. She asked her pastor what all the letters were and when he shared about the missionaries their church supported she was intrigued. She took the letters home and by the time she had finished reading them she was hooked! This past year she organized a church-wide Missions Fair, has kept up-to-date notebooks from all the missionaries their church supports, has highlighted various missionaries on their bulletin board, has organized a Prayer Bear* ministry, and is now coordinating a Bibleless Peoples Prayer Project** in conjunction with Wycliffe! With the Prayer Bear ministry she is teaching the Sunday School children how to witness at their schools as they give a teddy bear to a friend that they are praying for! What are you doing to impact your corner of the globe? Is there any way we can help you?

Kampala, Uganda– what can you do to be a part of God’s work here in this *For more information on the Prayer Bear ministry: http://www.group.com/prayerbears/ city of 3+ million people?

Hand in Hand

What is Your International Ministry? In June, 2010, we will be heading to Kampala and part of our ministry will be among international university students. Do you know that you could partner with us in college ministry right here? At every college there are at least a few international students… I imagine them being very excited about the privilege to study in the states, but also quite lonely if they don’t know anyone.

Could you be God’s agent of love and welcome? I don’t have a 5 step plan for reaching out to international students, but if you did your research and bathed your mission in prayer, you could be doing missions right here at your local university! As you consider how you could champion missions with your words, prayers

and actions, ask yourself these questions: 1. What does God expect from His people? 2. How has God blessed me? Gifts? Resources? 3. How am I going to respond? 4. Who is going to help me get started and stay motivated?

Prayer Requests:

What’s Up Next? •

Pray that we would be 35% funded by the end of this month! Praise Him for already bringing us to 23.5% !

Pray for us as we move to Josh’s parents house for the duration of our HMA.

Pray that God would order our days and fill our schedule and make us sensitive to His promptings in our daily lives.

We had a great time on our North Carolina tour in April, up next: Kentucky tour in September! If you are in KY and would like to connect with us we would love to add you to our schedule! We are happy to spend time with you and your family, or your Sunday School class or small group, we can speak at your church or share about Uganda with a group of friends over dessert! Just let us know how we can serve you! Pray that God would order our days and fill our schedule in KY.

Watch us Grow!

As we ponder ways to help you grow as champions in the great cause of missions – we are awed at how quickly our boys are growing too! Caleb is every bit of two and a half: growing quite independent and very talkative! He is spouting off complete sentences, and “reading” books from memory. His energy, silliness, and curiosity bring us so much joy! And he is such a good big brother to Seth. Seth will be one this month, and is making lots of strides as well– his babbling has grown to include lots of different sounds, he is enjoying lots of table food, he loves being read to, and he is cruising around the room clinging to anything that will support him! He will be walking in no time– which means that we will be running after two energetic boys! He is very funny, and I often think he does things just to make me laugh! Which is such an improvement from the infant who cried his first few months of life! He gives kisses and “dances” and brings a smile to our hearts! Thank you for inviting us to be a part of your lives, it is our prayer that as we partner together for the Kingdom, we would all be enriched and strengthened and stretched to be all that God desires!
