Backpack Project Continued: If the parents

Greetings from high up in the Southern Andes mountains of Ecuador. Dena and I are a little tired, but doing well. To date, we have had over twenty-five teams/ couples/interns come to work with us. Our short-term mission teams are truly a blessing to us as they often times bring the Bible lessons and crafts to share in our Bible cubs. Plus, they minister to us in many ways too. A note to our donors and prayer partners: You are AWESOME! We are so grateful to those of you who partner in this ministry by praying for us and those who invest in the ministry by giving financially, Thank you.

What have we been doing: We have been very busy with

hosting teams and individuals, working in all eleven of our bible clubs, hosting an upward soccer and cheer camp and interviewing new potential E-team members. We also hosted one of our favorite events, the 4th Annual School Backpack Project: Each backpack is filled with school supplies, hygiene products and a complete Spanish Bible. This year we gave out over 405 backpacks to our Bible clubs, sent 42 backpacks to Arriendo (a little village 4 hours away), and this past week we took 80 backpacks to the Coast for our friends to pass out in their very poor fishing villages. Many of you supported this project by giving money to purchase Bibles or other items that had to be bought Backpacks for the in country or sent items Coast with mission teams. Some of our teams helped stuff the backpacks, which was no easy task, and other team members were able to take part in the distribution. Each child was so happy to receive a backpack; it was like Christmas morning with the amount of excitement. The parent(s) of these children were just as happy too.

would have had the money to purchase the “most needed” items required for school, it would have taken an entire day on several busses to go into the city to make the purchase, but sadly most of these people Parents say “thank-you” do not have money and this is why this for backpacks. project is so important! It meets a huge need while showing the Love of Christ to these people. The best part about giving the children these backpacks, is that with each backpack a complete Spanish Bible is included to meet their poor spiritual condition! God’s word will not return

void. Thank you for giving to this project.

A reflection from one of our volunteer E-Team members: Rebecca writes. “Yesterday as we were on an old country dirt road on the way to Belén Kids’ Club I just thought, “Man, I wish (insert your name here) could see these mountains & feel this intense equatorial sun on their skin.” Every week we travel on dirt roads to get to Belén. For years I’ve traveled on these roads. The view still blows me away. It. Never. Gets. Old. Along the way we pick up smiling faces- kids who know our names & look forward to coming every week. Their smiles & laughs Never. Get. Old. I got sunburned yesterday. My face is still stinging this morning. I played soccer with 9-15 year olds yesterday. My legs are reminding this morning. But, you know what? I’ll do it again next week because loving on the kids, telling them Jesus is faithful and that we have freedom in Him.... Never. Gets. Old.”

Prayer Request: Please pray that God would send a couple or family to come serve with us. If this is you don’t ignore the Lord’s calling. Please email me (see email below) Blessings, Gary & Dena Pate
