Journal Entries: TOK and English All English journals due by noon on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008. All of Mrs. Benson’s TOK journals due the same time. All of Mrs. Brooks’ TOK journals due 4th period, Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008. (You may work on them the entire period if you need to.) TOK Topics: 1. You have a choice: Red Pill or Blue Pill? Why? 2. Discuss and explain a Matrix quote of your choice. 3. Discuss a time when your expectations prevented you from seeing the right answer. 4. Describe 3 fallacies from the recent presidential campaigns: debates, speeches, ads, news, etc. (For Benson, this may be limited to Palin’s speeches. Be careful.) 5. Describe 3 problems of knowledge from your AOK presentation (not your IA!) 6. Describe 3 problems of knowledge from someone else’s IA presentation. (7. Benson Only: Discuss Eurythrypo’s dilemma.) English Topics: 1. Examine 1 Yeats poem in regards to triads, dualism, or opposition. 2. Examine Yeats’ use of cycles, gyres, or primal attributes of fire, air, or earth. 3. Examine 1 poem or novel that you understand better after reading the essay about sex in literature. 4. Discuss 1 novel/short story studied that uses geography or seasons in developing character or theme. 5. Describe 3 things learned from the essay* on Heart of Darkness. 6. Which character are you most suited to play in Hamlet? Why? * I don’t know which essay this is. Pick a memorable one.
